14 Remarkable “Game of Thrones” Characters That Could Have Looked Very Different
So, the most epic TV saga of recent time has ended. Game of Thrones fans are still talking about the finale that the creators chose and are offering their own alternative endings. We decided to give fans another topic for discussion: we want to show what the characters we know so well could have looked like.
Bright Side used photo editing skills and our imaginations to portray what our favorite characters could have looked like. These actors almost got the roles, but everything changed at the last moment.
Cersei Lannister (Gillian Anderson)
Gillian Anderson refused a role in the show that was offered to her by the creators, but she never said which role she was offered. Her fans still wonder which character she could have portrayed. Some people say it could have been Cersei, and others think it was Catelyn Stark or Melisandre.
Viserys Targaryen (Sam Claflin)
Sam Claflin could have portrayed the white-haired Viserys Targaryen but in the end, Harry Lloyd got the part. Maybe it was for the best. Even in our mock-up, Claflin is just too cute for the role.
Eddard Stark (Viggo Mortensen)
or Gerard Butler
Other actors tried to get the part that the most-killed Hollywood actor that Sean Bean got. They were Liam Neeson, Gerard Butler, Viggo Mortensen, and Sam Neill. And we think that all of them were great candidates!
Sansa Stark (Rachel Hurd-Wood)
Sophie Turner got the role of Sansa Stark, but she could have been played by Rachel Hurd-Wood who was in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer.
Jaime Lannister (Jamie Bamber)
Jamie Bamber could have portrayed Jaime Lannister. But we can’t imagine anyone else in this role except Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
Davos Seaworth (David Thewlis)
Sir Davos could have been portrayed by David Thewlis or Tim Roth but Liam Cunningham did a great job in this role too.
Grenn (Joseph Dempsie)
Actor Joseph Dempsie auditioned for the roles of Grenn and Jon Snow but, in the end, he got to play Gendry, Robert Baratheon’s bastard son. We are happy that the creators chose him and gave the young actor a chance to show his talent.
Daenerys Targaryen (Elena Satine)
American actress Elena Satine could have gotten the role of the Mother of Dragons. It’s hard to say what Daenerys could’ve been like because we love Emilia Clarke.
Petyr Baelish, Little Finger (Tom Hollander)
The creators offered the role of Baelish to Tom Hollander. But he refused and Irish actor Aidan Gillen got the part.
Oberyn Martell (Oded Fehr)
Israeli actor Oded Fehr could have played Oberyn Martell, but Pedro Pascal got the part. And we think he was really handsome and brutal in this role.
Khal Drogo (Conan Stevens)
Conan Stevens who played Gregor Clegane in one of the seasons actually auditioned for the role of Khal Drogo. We think he could have been just as good in this role, but we will never know now.
Joffrey Baratheon (Eugene Simon)
The despicable Joffrey Baratheon could have been played by English actor Eugene Simon (who became Lancel Lannister). He probably would have been a great choice too. But Jack Gleeson, who actually got the role, was so hateful that he was definitely the best Joffrey of all.
Robert Baratheon (Conleth Hill)
It’s hard to believe it now, but Conleth Hill who we know as Master of Whisperers Varys could have become King Robert Baratheon.
Jon Snow (Iwan Rheon)
A lot of young actors auditioned for the role of King in the North. In the end, Iwan Rheon got the part of the terrible Ramsay Bolton and Kit Harrington got the role of Jon Snow. The creators definitely made the right choice: both actors deserve a round of applause for their work.
