7 Easy Ways to Kiss Your Strawberry Skin Goodbye

year ago

Strawberry skin is a combination of oil, bacteria, and dead skin cells trapped in your skin, making them look like the tiny seeds on strawberries. If you are eager to get rid of them, especially during the summer time, there are some at-home remedies you can use to finally free out your skin.

Here at Bright Side, we know how important it is to keep your skin healthy and glowing, so we offer some simple methods you can use to treat your strawberry lookalikes.

1. Moisturise your skin every day and thoroughly.

Using a moisturizing cream to hydrate your skin is an ideal solution for strawberry legs, since they often lack moisture. Plus, it’s an easy at-home treatment. It can help make your skin’s texture look better, and it might prevent those little skin freckles from rising again. Try to get a cream that doesn’t have any preservatives, as this can lead to pain.

2. Shave in the direction your hair grows.

Shaving in the opposite direction of what you’re used to might prevent your skin from getting irritated and prevent those annoying razor burns from appearing. Try to shave your legs downwards, rather than upwards, and take breaks while shaving — making your strokes short and gentle. It can also help if you don’t shave often. This can also help you treat ingrown hairs.

3. Use a cold cloth or ice.

If you’ve ever used ice on an injury, then this method might be familiar to you, as it is a similar treatment. When you’re done shaving, it might be good to put a cold cloth with cool water on the area you shaved, and keep it on for a couple of minutes. It can make the redness go away and any pain that you’re feeling from the razor. Simply, use anything you have at your home to try this remedy — you can even use ice wrapped in a cloth.

4. Mix your lotions with alpha hydroxy acids.

You can use this remedy to get rid of strawberry legs because it can clean out your pores and remove the dark spots. It’s important to exfoliate, and then moisturize your skin — but try to not scrub the skin off your legs. This acid is there to loosen up your top layer of the skin, remove any leftover dirt, get rid of the dead skin cells, and finally, polish it.

5. Dry brush your skin.

Dry brushing has plenty of benefits — starting with a great exfoliation method for your dry skin. It can open up your pores and get your blood circulation going. It also helps your skin reach that smooth, soft glow, and guide it to brightness.

It is advisable to shower with cool water to prevent strawberry legs, since hot water can cause stinging. But if you enjoy a nice, hot shower, then dry brushing after you bathe is recommended.

6. Baking soda mix

Baking soda has plenty of benefits, from a great kitchen cleaning utility, to an exfoliant for your skin. It has anti-inflammatory and has antibacterial compounds, removes dead skin cells, and cleans out your pores.

Simply mix together half a cup of oatmeal, 3 tablespoons of baking soda, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1 tablespoon of cream. Then, apply it on your legs and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water, and voilà!

7. It’s better to wax than shave.

It’s best to say goodbye to shaving for a while because it leads to your hair follicles exposed and ready to clog your skin, plus it may lead to an infection. Waxing, on the other hand, is a good replacement — it is more kind to your skin, gentle, and you don’t have to do it as often, thus your skin can get less irritated and/or inflamed.
