I had no idea that character of Peter was making fun of Chloe. I feel badly for her because people seemingly pick and choose what to be offended by in regards to celebrities and don't always take into consideration how the celebrity themselves were affected by the issue to begin with. When someone says they're affected by something we should listen to them. I hate that her objections fell on deaf ears. I wish her strength, courage, and compassion dealing with these issues in the future. She's a gorgeous girl with the whole world ahead of her.
Chloë Grace Moretz Reveals She Became a Recluse With Anxiety After Seeing a Meme of Herself That Went Viral
Who’d have ever thought that a seemingly harmless meme from a cartoon would be a nightmare for Chloë Grace Moretz. It all started with a Family Guy meme that went viral. The actress opened up about her experience and explained what exactly affected her self-esteem.
Paparazzi took pictures of her outside.
Paparazzi photographed Chloë Grace Moretz carrying 2 pizzas to her New York hotel. The photos got into The Daily Mail, then 9Gag and Reddit. People commented on her overly long legs. By mid-June 2016, or maybe even earlier, a twisted version of the original photo appeared on Family Guy.
Chloë became a meme.
The meme was posted on Twitter, and it spread like wildfire. Moretz went into detail, “This photo got manipulated into a character from Family Guy with the long legs and the short torso, and it was one of the most widespread memes at the time.”
The “joke” forced her to hide from the public eye.
The actress says it took all the enjoyment out of getting dressed up and going on the red carpet. She revealed how she dealt with the uncomfortable feeling, “I basically became a recluse. It was great because I got away from the photographers and I could be myself. At the same time it made me severely anxious when I was photographed. My heart rate would rise, and I would hyperventilate.”
Everybody thought it was funny.
No one saw the bad side of the meme. Chloë recollects, “Everyone was making fun of my body. I brought it up with someone, and they were like, ’Oh, shut up, it’s funny.’ I remember sitting there and thinking, my body is being used as a joke, and it’s something that I can’t change about who I am, and it is being posted all over Instagram. It was something so benign as walking into a hotel with leftovers. To this day, when I see that meme, it’s something very hard for me to overcome.”
Ariana Grande had a similar experience as well. She addressed some body-shaming comments in a TikTok video. In this article, we reveal how gracefully she handled the criticism.
