Christina Applegate Faces Off With a Troll Who Says Her Face Was Ruined by Plastic Surgery, Not MS

In 2021, Christina Applegate revealed that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and it was taking a toll on her personal and professional life. Still, Applegate pushed through her condition and serves as an inspiration to people who are in the same boat as her. And yet, despite being honest about living with MS, the actress still faces criticism. Luckily, she knows exactly how to handle internet trolls.

While multiple sclerosis is generally known as a condition that affects a person’s motor functions, there are way more underlying symptoms that many people don’t know about. In the case of Christina Applegate, she also experienced weight gain, as she explained, “I put on 40 pounds; I can’t walk without a cane. I want people to know that I am very aware of all of that.” Applegate also added that if people have an issue with her changed appearance, it’s on them and doesn’t concern her.

And just as Applegate suspected, some people couldn’t accept the fact that her face changed due to MS and suggested their own theories. Applegate went on Twitter to share an interaction with a mean-spirited internet commenter. The person sent her a message suggesting she had bad plastic surgery and was trying to hide it, writing “MS didn’t make you look that way, a plastic surgeon did...and a bad plastic surgeon at that.”

Having been in Hollywood for several decades, Applegate has thick skin and simply laughed at the comments about her appearance. “What is wrong with people? By the way, I laughed,” Applegate wrote in her tweet. It’s wild that even after she’d been so honest about her journey dealing with MS, people still manage to twist her experience.

Still, Applegate continues to inspire others who have MS by making public appearances and showing that life still goes on. She even received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame recently, further solidifying her status as an absolute queen.

If you could respond to that mean commenter, what would you say? What is your go-to way of dealing with haters?
