This Couple Fully Potty Trained Their Baby at Just 2 Weeks Old, and Here’s How
Research says that while some kids may be ready for potty training between 18 and 24 months of age, others may not be prepared until they reach 3 years old. Yet, a couple claims that they stopped using diapers with their baby at just 2 weeks, and they are sharing the special method they used to accomplish this.
They used a well-known method.
Montana Lower and Tom Linwood, parents of Blue, claim that their daughter has not pooped in a diaper since she was two weeks old. In order to train their little one, they used a method known as elimination communication (or EC).
According to the couple, elimination communication is “listening to your baby for when they want to go to the toilet and taking them before they go in their nappy.”
While speaking to their followers about EC, the mother noted, “You might be wondering why we do EC.” She then explained, “They need to go to the bathroom anyway, and it’s a lot cleaner if you take them to the toilet.”
Tom, the dad, then added, “Empowerment. Your child understands they are heard, and their needs are met, and it’s just a really beautiful thing.” He also believes that this approach “leads to connection.”
And while they admit that they still use diapers sometimes, Tom explained that the reason they turned to potty training this early was partly that nappies can be expensive.
The secret is in listening to your baby.
The young couple gave advice to other parents who are thinking of doing the same, urging them to “listen to their baby” when they want to go to the toilet.
Montana went on to explain, “Every mom knows when their baby is hungry, and they have cues for that, and they have the same cues when they need to go to the toilet.” Tom agreed with his partner and added, “It’s just about listening and watching for it.”
The hands-on parents also added some practical tips, saying that it is best to start the process in the summer because it is much easier then. The mama noted, “Try dressing your baby in a dress or something you can take off easily.”
They also suggested that another useful tip is to get a potty. They shared that they started with a “plastic container” and even put it in the car when the family is out, just to use it in case the baby needs it.
Montana and Tom revealed that Blue grasped the concept of using the potty in just one day. The mama continued about their experience, adding, “We recommend setting aside one day, Blue took one day to learn she needed to go toilet in the Tupperware container. Then after that it was up to us to read the signs.”
She then concluded, “Even if you are unsure if your baby wants to go to the toilet, it is best to take them even if it is a ’maybe.’”
It seems that many celebrities are also fans of potty training their kids from an early time, and supermodel Gisele Bündchen is one of them.
