12 Beach Hacks That Will Save Your Summer
When we talk about summer, we often think of hot sand, the cold water of the sea, and a good tan. But unpleasant things can occur even on a trip to the beach, and they can really spoil your holiday.
Bright Side has come up with 12 tricks to make your beach vacation pleasant, safe, and fun.
12. How to stop sand sticking to your feet
Because of all the sand that gets stuck to your feet, it can be difficult to get your shoes back on after a day at the beach. To avoid this happening, use children’s talcum powder.
What to do: Sprinkle some talcum powder onto a piece of cloth, and wrap it up tightly. When you’re ready to go home, rub the talcum powder onto your feet. The talc will absorb all the moisture, meaning that even the tiniest grains of sand will fall away easily. Your legs and feet will be clean and smooth.
11. How to avoid losing your car keys
To avoid having to take your keys to the beach and running the risk of them disappearing into the sea, hide them behind the wheel of your car.
What to do: Take a twig, blade of grass, or plant stem and tie it to the keyring for your car keys. Fix it to the hubcap, and let it hang down on the inner side.
10. Protecting your valuables
When you’re on the beach, there’s often nowhere to put your valuables, and it’s not a good idea to leave them without anyone to watch over them.
What to do: Simply place your keys, telephone, money, and so on inside a child’s diaper, or wrap them up inside some underwear. Such items are wholly unattractive to thieves. They won’t even touch them, and your stuff will be safe.
9. How to avoid getting a headache
The sharp change in pressure which occurs when you dive underwater can give you a headache. Thankfully, there’s a way to prevent this.
What to do: Before going underwater, pinch your nose, close your mouth, and create some pressure in your head for 5-10 seconds. Then breathe in deeply, and repeat this process 2 more times. Your body will adapt to the new pressure, and you won’t end up with a headache.
8. Keeping your phone dry
What to do: To protect your phone from moisture and sand, place it in a ziplock bag. Then, with the help of a straw, remove all the air from it. You’ll end up with a completely waterproof cover.
7. If your ears become blocked
If you’ve got all the water out of your ears but they’re still blocked after some time at the beach, you need to restore the natural pressure in your inner ear. Doing so is easy.
What to do: Take an ordinary balloon, pinch your nose, and begin to blow it up. At some point during this process, you’ll hear a weak "click" sound, which indicates that the pressure in your ears is back to normal.
6. A quick refreshing drink
What to do: Before going to the beach, fill up a plastic bottle with 1/3 water, and place it in the freezer. When you need a cool drink after a long time spent in the sun, you can pour any drink into the bottle, and it will cool down straightaway.
5. A sand-free sun lounger
What to do: To stop the wind blowing sand into your shoes, clothes, and bags, lay out a mattress cover instead of an ordinary beach chair. You’ll end up with something close to a paddling pool with no water, which you can lie in and keep your things safe.
4. Cool flip-flops
What to do: To stop your sandals from burning your feet after they’ve sat in the sun for hours, just keep them turned over when you’re not wearing them.

What to do: This is another great way to protect your phone from water and sand: wrap it up in plastic wrap. This allows you to even take it into the water with you, although the touchpad may not work in lower temperatures.

Aloe vera juice contains chemicals that can heal wounds, reduce swelling, and retain moisture. It’s a great way to cope with sunburn as well.
What to do: Buy some aloe vera gel, and freeze it in an ice cube tray. You can then wipe your face, arms, or back with it or wherever else you’ve received burns. It will help to both restore the health of your skin and reduce the pain.
