Why Pet IDs Are Getting More and More Popular Day by Day

Recently, pets in Singapore have been given a chance to feel like true Singaporeans because now they have the privilege of getting issued their very own personal IDs! The cards serve as running licenses and can get customized as per the pet owner’s request. Moreover, many other countries already have the habit of getting ID tags for their pets and we’re going to tell you why pet owners around the world had better start getting IDs for their pets right away.

We at Bright Side learned more about this novelty and are very excited to tell you about it.

It’s not just for fun.

ID tags for pets play a crucial role in identifying them. For example, the pet service known as Pets NRIC in Singapore offers ID dog tags for pets but not just for the fun and cuteness of it. Of course, this document is not official but it serves a very important purpose: in case a pet gets lost, the tag will help identify the animal and find its owner.

What it looks like

The ID looks like a plastic card and contains the following information about the pet:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Breed
  • Sex
  • Place of birth
  • The owner’s contacts
  • The pet’s photo

All animals can get one — even turtles!

The back of the card might contain some additional information about the animal but it’s up to the owner to decide whether to include this information or not.

A small story gave birth to a great idea.

The idea came to be after one of the creator’s friend’s dog went missing. That’s how they came up with the idea to attach tags to animals so that they could easily be found if they got lost.

One more benefit

A portion of the profit made for selling these cards is donated to animal shelters.
