10 Celebs Shared Amusing Moments When Fans Thought They Were Other Stars

Even approaching some famous people requires doing a double-take. This is mainly because many celebrities have their own “twins” in showbiz, and it’s really hard, even for their colleagues, to guess who is who. Many times, this kind of confusion is fairly reasonable. But how one could take Ryan Reynolds for Ryan Gosling, or Prince Harry for Ed Sheeran may still be a mystery to many.

We at Bright Side have found 10 fascinating stories in which celebrities admit they were mistaken for somebody else, and some of them actually enjoy it and have fun with it, sometimes together with their supposed “doppelgänger.”

1. Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling

On the red carpet at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he was mistaken for Ryan Gosling once. “Last night someone said how wonderful I was in La La Land and I didn’t correct them because if they were indeed talking about him, he was wonderful in that movie,” Reynolds said. “I just went with it.”

2. Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman

During a guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Keira Knightley admitted that she gets mistaken for Natalie Portman way too often. “Natalie Portman I get a lot, and I get chased through airports,” Knightley said. “It’s happened like 5 times where someone’s been like, ’Natalie! Natalie! Natalie!’ And I’ll sign and take a picture as Natalie.”

3. Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry

Probably the most stunning look-alike is between Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel. The latter even jokes, “I probably answer more questions about her than about my own family,” as she is often mistaken for the famous singer. Though Deschanel admits that fans are really sweet when they try to approach her. “They want to hug me for some reason,” she said. “I think they want to be friends. It’s totally fine.” Perry knows about it and even asked Deschanel to play her in a music video.

4. Sarah Hyland and Mila Kunis

These beauties are confused by fans, mutually. So when the 2 stars finally met, they decided to give it a go and just have fun. “She came up to me and said she gets called me all the time too,” Hyland said in an interview with InStyle. “She said that sometimes she pretends she’s me because it makes her feel young. I asked if I could pretend to be her next time somebody asks me if I’m her, and she said okay.”

5. Isla Fisher and Amy Adams

At the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, Lady Gaga came to Isla Fisher and said, “Thank you. Your performance in American Hustle, Amy...” The actress is a big fan of the singer and didn’t want to upset her, so she just gracefully thanked her and bowed her head. The funny thing is, Amy Adams actually was at the same party. Fisher pointed the real Adams out to Lady Gaga and joked, “There’s Isla Fisher. She’s not even nominated for anything. What’s she doing here?”

6. Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran

Margot Robbie was once at a party with Prince Harry. He was wearing glasses so Robbie thought he was Ed Sheeran. “When I saw him in those glasses, I was like, ’Oh my God, I didn’t know Ed Sheeran was at the party,’” she told Jimmy Fallon. “He didn’t wear a crown though. I don’t know if that’s a prince.”

7. Lucy Hale and Selena Gomez

Lucy Hale is also mistaken by fans very often. “Usually, I would correct them, but I remember there was this older lady in an airport, and she was like, ’Can I get a picture with you?’ Afterward, she started listing off the projects that she liked of mine and I quickly realized that she thought I was Selena. And I kind of just went with it because I didn’t want to crush her dreams,” said the actress. And one time, a fan was so convinced she was Selena Gomez, she even tried to take her phone to call Justin Bieber.

8. Helen Hunt and Jodie Foster

Hunt posted on Twitter that one barista took her for Jodie Foster when she was ordering her drink. “Asked the barista if she wanted my name. She winked and said. ’We gotcha,’” tweeted the actress along with a photo of a cup with the name “Jody” on it. Foster has also said that she’s been mistaken for Helen Hunt so many times and she for her. “We talk about it a lot every time we see each other.”

9. Darren Criss and Kit Harington

Former Glee star, Darren Criss, explained that he once had to gently let a fan down when he was mistaken for the other star. “Hey... Are you Kit Harington?” asked the fan. “Aw sorry, man, I’m not,” answered Criss. And the guy really was eager to ask for a picture with the famous Game of Thrones star. Anyway, Criss kept his witts and suggested they get a picture to ’commemorate this moment.’ He then published this cute photo on his Instagram.

10. Reese Witherspoon and Carrie Underwood

And this “doppelgänger story” is quite unusual because it is really hard to imagine the 2 women getting mistaken for each other. But still, even confusions like this happen. Reese Witherspoon herself wrote on Twitter, “To the woman in the parking lot who just asked me if I was Carrie Underwood: You officially made my day!” To which Underwood replied, “YOUR day?! That lady just made my whole life!”

What other celebrity “twin couples” do you know you’ve mistaken for each other many, many times? Do you have any doppelgängers yourself? Have you ever met them? Please tell us all in the comments below.
