10 Actors Who Didn’t Like Their Iconic Movie Roles

Sometimes, opportunities are given to us, but it doesn’t mean we will always feel right about them. And that’s what happened with these actors who were a part of a successful film and played iconic roles but regretted their involvement. These celebrities expressed that they were dissatisfied with the film, plot, and roles, but still, they conveyed it with professionalism and managed to entertain us despite these issues.

At Bright Side, we gathered some celebrities who shared iconic roles that they didn’t seem to enjoy playing.

1. Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen

Robert Pattinson was part of the successful movie series, Twilight. Despite his iconic role as Edward Cullen, he said, “There’s nothing you can do about it. That’s the way it is. But it is weird being part of that, kind of representing something you don’t particularly like.” It was also reported that if he hadn’t been cast in the franchise, he would’ve despised it.

2. Megan Fox as Mikaela Banes

In Transformers, Megan Fox played the role of Mikaela Banes. She was fired by the director but initially, she didn’t want to be part of the film. She said that it’s hard to work when directors are tyrants and a nightmare to work for and that it would be better if she moved on with other projects.

3. Halle Berry as Catwoman

Halle Berry played the role of Catwoman in the film of the same name, but she didn’t enjoy the experience, despite the “success” of the film — she even won a Razzie award for her performance. She said she did not like the script, and she felt that the production could have been set up better and the plot, more developed.

4. Jessica Alba as Susan Storm

In Fantastic Four, Jessica Alba played the role of Susan Storm. She mentioned, “Good actors never use the script unless it’s amazing writing. All the good actors I’ve worked with, they all say whatever they want to say.” Pertaining to how badly the script of the film was, she added that she felt what she was doing was useless, then admitted, “I don’t care about this business anymore.”

5. Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater

Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet in the film, Titanic, was one of the most notable movies of all time. It was reported that she didn’t like watching the movie and wanted to change every single scene in it.

She said, “I’m like, ’Ugh, really? Really? You did it like that?’ And even my American accent, I look at it and I’m like, ’Ugh, I can’t even listen to myself.’ It’s awful, hopefully, it’s so much better now.”

6. Daniel Craig as James Bond

Daniel Craig played the role of James Bond in 4 other installments of the franchise and the 2012 Olympic Games’ short film. It was reported that he didn’t want to play the role again, and he said, “I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”

7. Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard

Harrison Ford played the role of Rick Deckard in Blade Runner. But he has issues with the character he was given, as he explained, “I played a detective who did not have any detecting to do. In terms of how I related to the material, I found it very difficult. There was stuff that was going on that was really nuts.”

8. Idris Elba as Stringer Bell

Idris Elba was cast in The Wire to play Stringer Bell. But he regretted playing this character, saying, “We’re all idolizing Stringer Bell, but who are we really idolizing? Is it okay to pump a community but because you’re smart at it that makes you cool?”

9. Katherine Heigl as Alison Scott

Katherine Heigl was cast in the movie Knocked Up, playing the role of Alison Scott. She hated her role and said the movie could have been better if the roles were equally distributed in terms of attitude, character, and script. It was an amazing experience for her, but it was hard for her to accept the film.

10. Viola Davis as Aibileen Clark

Viola Davis played Aibileen Clark in The Help. She said, “Have I ever done roles that I’ve regretted? I have, and The Help is on that list. I just felt that at the end of the day it wasn’t the voices of the maids that were heard. I know Aibileen. I know Minny. They’re my grandma. They’re my mom.”
