Very sweet, and everyone deserves some privacy and anonymity if they desire to have that, even celebs. I wish them the best.
Elijah Wood Reveals That He and His Partner Secretly Welcomed a Second Child
The Lord of the Rings actor has been keeping a secret from us, and it’s bigger than the “one ring to rule them all” secret. Elijah Wood and his partner, Mette-Marie Kongsved, have managed to keep their personal lives hidden from prying eyes, including the arrival of their second child. But now the cat — or the baby — is out of the bag, as Wood spoke about their little bub publicly for the first time.
Wood and Kongsved met on the set of a film.
Their love story reportedly started on the set of Netflix’s 2017 film, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, which Kongsved produced and Wood starred in. They were notoriously hush-hush about their relationship and didn’t confirm their romance until 2018, after the paparazzi caught them holding hands.
In 2019, they quietly welcomed a son named Evan. Apart from stolen shots of the couple strolling with their kid, the celebrity parents have succeeded in keeping their son’s life and images private.
Wood casually mentioned having a second child in a recent interview.
It’s not clear if revealing the baby’s existence was accidental or not, but congratulations are definitely in order for the second-time dad. “We’ve got a 3-year-old son and a 14-month-old daughter, and she wakes us up pretty early. I like getting up early, I like starting the day,” Wood said. A quick computation would mean baby number 2 was born either in late December 2021 or early January 2022.
He shared that he and his partner are hands-on parents, and they work as a team — from sleep training to packing their kids’ snacks. “You’re constantly being challenged, in the best way. It’s as much my own personal growth as it is about my child’s growth.”
He also revealed that he has a secret social media account.
The Lord of the Rings alum admitted to having a secret Instagram account, or what is generally known as a Finsta — fake accounts used by celebrities for content about their private lives.
“I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn’t necessarily want to share with the world,” he explained. “An account that’s public-facing would really change what I share. It’s not like I’m sharing anything that I wouldn’t want to go out, but I’m a relatively private person,” Wood concluded.
