10 Hidden Details in Movies That We Can’t Believe We Missed

year ago

Almost all of our all-time favorite films and sitcoms contain a secret detail. We’re putting some of our favorite movies to the test today, examining every detail to ensure we didn’t miss anything. And while some of them make sense, others question whether the creators may have gone a bit over the top.

1. Toy Story 4 (2019)

In Toy Story 4, a car has the license plate “RMRF97.” In 1997, someone accidentally deleted the entire Toy Story 2 film by typing ’rm -r -f *’. Fortunately, the film’s supervising technical director had a backup copy at home, and the movie was restored.

2. Glass (2019)

James McAvoy reprises the character of Kevin Wendell Crumb in Glass, who has 24 different personalities. Each one of James McAvoy’s personalities in Glass is fully credited.

3. The Lord of the Rings (2001)

The steeds that the Nazgûl rode during their time as the “black riders” were black with red eyes. They did most of the seeing for the ringwraiths. The horses of the Nazgul in The Lord of the Rings have the Eye of Sauron on their chest riding gear.

4. The Truman Show (1998)

In The Truman Show, Truman takes vitamin D supplements because the sun on the set isn’t real.

5. Skyfall (2012)

A guy is shown a stolen painting in the movie Skyfall. The artwork is by Amadeo Modigliani and is titled Woman With a Fan. It was stolen in real-life in 2010 and has yet to be recovered.

6. Knives Out (2019)

In Knives Out, several potential suspects use their iPhones periodically in the film. The only character not seen using an iPhone is the culprit, Ransom, played perfectly by Chris Evans.

Apple does not let filmmakers show villains using iPhones on camera, movie director Rian Johnson said in a new interview with Vanity Fair. “Apple, they let you use iPhones in movies, but—and this is very pivotal if you’re ever watching a mystery movie—bad guys cannot have iPhones on camera,” Johnson said

7. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

Professor Lupin spends most of the train ride to Hogwarts sleeping in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The date is September 1, 1993. He was exhausted because he had transformed the previous night, and there had indeed been a full moon. Later, the professor reveals that the transformations leave him totally exhausted, which readily explains how he could have been sleepy enough to endure the Dementor assault.

8. Breaking Bad (2008)

There were 62 episodes of Breaking Bad. The 62nd element on the periodic table is Samarium. Samarium is used to treat lung cancer.

9. Iron Man 3 (2003), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

In Iron Man 3 Pepper wears a shirt with an electron/neutron joke on it. Years later, in Spider-Man: Homecoming, we can see Peter Parker wearing the same shirt.

10. John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum (2019)

Keanu Reeves talked about his beloved character John Wick, “In the first script, they had John Wick described as working with old leather-bound books and book restoration,” Reeves said.

“We filmed it. It’s not in the movie, but we filmed it. He had a hobby and a vocation. That’s what he did. Best case, yes, his wife had passed, and that’s what he had decided to do once he got out after the impossible task, that was his vocation.”
