12 Celebrities That Would Be Doing Very Different Jobs If They Weren’t Famous
Statistics say that about 30% of those who work will change their workplace every 12 months. Maybe it’s not just a change of companies but also a complete change of their job description. Things happen, and people might decide to go a different way even though they have already started to pave another path. With celebrities, things are a bit different, but they surely could have been a lot like us if they had never become famous.
1. Margot Robbie
When she was a young girl growing up in Australia, Margot went to a circus school and got her trapeze certificate. Not only that, but she also dreamt about working with a circus, which never happened in real life. “I couldn’t stop thinking about that stupid dream. I feel like I missed my calling.” But she got to use some of her trapeze skills while filming the Suicide Squad movie.
2. Kim Kardashian
Kim is known for many things, and she has had a lot of business ventures in her lifetime. But, if she chose a normal job, it would be as a forensic investigator. That certainly doesn’t come as a surprise, since she is studying to become a lawyer, which means that law is something she is interested in. In fact, she has passed the first bar exam, and she is on her way to becoming a real lawyer.
“For anyone who doesn’t know my law school journey, know this wasn’t easy or handed to me. I failed this exam 3 times in 2 years, but I got back up each time and studied harder and tried again until I did it.”
3. Sam Smith
Sam has shared that one of their dreams is to open a coffee shop in London, that would have a flower shop in the back. That’s where the singer would spend their free time when not touring or recording new music.
“I think I want to open a flower shop, I really do. Flowers make me happy. My aim in life is to just slowly, slowly become this old gay folk singer that wears kaftans and has a beard, singing lonely love songs. That’s my aim.”
4. Courteney Cox
Before landing her role on Family Ties, Courteney used to work at a swimming pool company as a saleswoman. And as she proudly says, she was really good at the job.
When she left Alabama to go to California to find an acting job, her dad suggested that she come back home to continue her work. “There was a period when I didn’t have any money. I was down to about a month, and my dad thought I should come home and do what I do. Sales.”
5. Angelina Jolie
Angelina has had one of the most celebrated acting careers in modern years, but it wasn’t her only choice. If acting wasn’t going to work for her, she was planning to become a funeral director.
“It sounds like this very strange, eccentric, dark thing to do, but in fact, I lost my grandfather and was very upset with his funeral. How somebody passes and how the family deals with this passing and what death is should be addressed in a different way.”
6. Harry Styles
There are 3 things Harry would’ve liked to have been if he wasn’t a massive pop star: a physiotherapist, a teacher, or a florist. “I wanted to be a physiotherapist. When we had a career day at school, I was told there weren’t very many jobs in physiotherapy, so I became a singer.”
On a different occasion, when he was asked the same question again, he said, “When I was younger, I wanted to be a physiotherapist... Maybe a florist.”
7. Sofia Vergara
Sofia was 2 semesters away from officially getting her dentist degree when she was studying back in Colombia. Acting might have won her over, but she still remains obsessed with oral hygiene.
“I’m obsessed. My son thinks I’m crazy because I make him do a cleaning every 3 months. I try to bribe the dentist to make him do it sooner.”
8. Justin Bieber
Many fans can’t imagine their lives without Justin and his music, but the famous star has an idea of what his life would’ve been like. He would probably want to be an astronaut since he always dreamed about going to space. Hopefully, he will make his dream come true in the near future since he has booked a ticket with Virgin Galactic to fly to space.
9. Zayn Malik
If Zayn wasn’t a music star, he would’ve gone to college.
“I think about what I’d do away from music quite a lot. I think I’d be at university, and I would have gotten my English degree. I think I’d be looking for some employment to do with English lecturing or literature. I love poetry and writing—obviously, I’m a songwriter—so, it would’ve been something that would still give me the feeling of a creative outlet within my writing.”
10. Camila Cabello
Camila became a singer when she became part of the band Fifth Harmony when she was still underage. So, she didn’t really have a chance to have other jobs and see what other interests she has. But, she would have liked to work at a coffee shop in hopes of meeting her prince charming while serving him coffee.
“One day, I would still like to work in a coffee shop because I have this dream of meeting someone in a coffee shop, and falling in love with them, and talking to them every day. And they only come to the coffee shop to get my coffee, but it’s not because my coffee’s good. It’s because they like me. I’m going to apply tomorrow to the nearest coffee shop.”
11. Britney Spears
We all know her as the pop icon she is today, but if Britney didn’t pursue her dream of becoming a singer, she would like to have been a history teacher. “I’d specialize in reading and history with an emphasis on 1920s history.”
Maybe it’s because her mother was also a teacher, something that inspired Britney. Maybe she didn’t get to make that aspiration of hers come true, but nobody knows what her future holds.
12. Joe Jonas
The famous Jonas Brother singer discovered his passion for cooking a little while ago, and since then he loves to cook. Maybe that’s why he decided to open a restaurant back in 2015 named “Hinterland” over in Santa Monica. Even his wife, Sophie Turner, has lauded Joe’s cooking skills, saying that she feels lucky to have married someone who cooks so well.
