Sherlock Holmes is the most portrayed character in history. Since his creation in 1887, he has been played by over 75 different actors. This is proof that some movie characters simply steal our hearts. The impeccable work done by the actors makes them memorable, and no matter who plays these parts, we keep rooting for them all the same.

1. Batman

Christian Bale played the famous superhero, Batman, in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. And Robert Pattinson appeared in the most recent version of the story in the film, The Batman.

2. Cheaper by the Dozen

The original version of the story was released in 2003, starring Steve Martin in Cheaper by the Dozen. A second version of the movie, also entitled Cheaper by the Dozen, was made in 2022.

Vanessa Hudgens played Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical movie. And Olivia Rodrigo appeared as Nini in the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

4. Troy Bolton and his new version, Ricky

Zac Efron played Troy Bolton in the High School Musical movie franchise. And Joshua Bassett plays the role of Ricky in the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

5. Doctor Dolittle

Eddie Murphey acted in the original movie, Doctor Dolittle, and Robert Downey Jr. appeared in Dolittle, the remake.

6. Matilda

Mara Wilson was the iconic character in Matilda. And Alisha Weir played the role in Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical. Despite the success Matilda had, Mara Wilson decided to take a different path than acting, and these are the reasons why.

Embeth Davidtz played the role of Miss Honey in the film, Matilda. Lashana Lynch played the same role in Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical.

11. Sherlock Holmes

Robert Downey Jr. acted in the 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie, Benedict Cumberbatch appeared in the 2010 Sherlock series, and Henry Cavill starred in the 2020 Enola Holmes film. 12. Harley Quinn and The Joker

Jared Leto and Margot Robbie played the Joker and Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad movie. And Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga are set to appear in the new upcoming movie, Joker: Folie à Deux. The singer, Lady Gaga, has created quite a buzz since she launched her career as an actress.
