The man you love hints that you should stop staying at home and find a job. The mother-in-law can’t stop being unhappy about everything you do. The children can’t stay away from problems. And this all is just a small part of the multifaceted life of women, which is full of different surprises.

  • I have been working in this company for 2 years now. I love my job, but the last 6 months have been unbearable. My manager is hitting on me. I’m tired of telling no to him. After each of my refusals he gets offended and angry, doesn’t talk to me, but after a week he starts all over again.
He tells me that he has never loved anyone that much as he loves me, and he sees me in his dreams. I already told him directly that he’s old enough to be my father. He has a daughter of my age. And I have a family too. Lately, I’ve been thinking about quitting, because I don’t like working in such a stressful environment. © Work Stories / VK
  • I’m ashamed to admit it, but I’m tired of motherhood. We were mentally and financially prepared for children. We planned everything ahead, so my husband was supposed to take a paternity leave for the first 3 months and help me with the baby. The problem is that instead of one baby, we had triplets.
So, even two of us could barely cope with the babies during the first 3 months. And now my husband came back to work, and I’ve already been alone with the triplets for a month. Children are happiness, I love them madly, but I’m so tired. Both mentally and physically. I constantly want to sleep and eat. © Mamdarinka / VK
  • A friend fixed me up with her newly single cousin. A blind date. She claimed he’d be perfect for me. We met in a pub and for nearly 2 hours, he talked about nothing but himself, solidly.
His life, job, his work-out routine, and so on. He never asked me a single question, and I couldn’t get a word in. Every time I tried to speak, he held his hand up to silence me. The last thing he said to me was, “Anyway, are we going back to yours or mine later?”
I was so annoyed and disgusted with his arrogance that I just said “excuse me” and walked out. I’ve not spoken to that friend since, I’ve no idea why she thought I would like a man like that. Awful. It was quite a while ago, but it really put me off. © curiousopenmind22 / Reddit
  • I’m a stay at home mom. I clean the house (I actually like cleaning), I cook meals almost every night, and take care of a busy 14-month-old. I do all the chores and errands.
We were talking about something, and he said I’ve gotten lazy. I was working 2 jobs when our son was born. Our son was born at 28 weeks. It’s taken a while to recover, on top of other health issues.
But, we talked about it. We worked through it. He does see what I do every day, and he knows he would be lost if I wasn’t here. And that putting our son in daycare would be expensive, so there’s no benefit for me working. His words were the most hurtful I’ve heard from him. © pink_camo77 / Reddit
  • I bought my son some plasticine the other day, today he unpacked it and started playing. I was minding my own business in the kitchen, occasionally glancing into the room as he was modelling something on the table.
I made a pie, spent 2 hours on it, then decided to have some rest and at the same time check on my son. And he was doing just great. While I was making the pie, he covered the whole sofa with plasticine and with a wide smile on his face said, “Mum, what do you think? Isn’t it beautiful?” © Mamdarinka / VK
  • My mum is absolutely furious about my husband’s anniversary gift. I thought he knew that he needed to give something nice and useful to his beloved mother-in-law on her birthday. But my husband managed to surprise everyone. He gave her a universal garden tool.
A boot on one side, a pitchfork on the other. He handed this thing to the surprised mother-in-law with the words, “Happy anniversary to you! I know you love your garden, so this will come in handy!” And my mother moved from her country house to an apartment in the city center 3 years ago. © Mamdarinka / VK
  • Probably my first date ever. I was 15. He was 16. He took me out to dinner, but his family (mom, dad and 2 sisters) tagged along, and his parents ended up paying. The place he chose was a crappy buffet which was really run down and known to have bug/rodent issues. That relationship didn’t work out, and I’ve never been back to that particular buffet place. © TennesseeDreaming865 / Reddit
  • Not too long ago, my husband and I bought a new car that he had long dreamed of and had been saving up for a long time. I thought life would get easier with this purchase, but no, my husband dotes on it.
I suggested going on holiday somewhere, the weather is nice, we could go camping, but he refused. He said, “There is shrubbery and mud. Let’s wait a little longer.” I asked him to take me to the supermarket, so he made me put on shoe covers! I’m already starting to feel jealous of him for a soulless piece of metal. © Mamdarinka / VK
  • I actually treated a guy who had pursued me initially for quite a while, to dinner at a very expensive/romantic restaurant in our city (it was a huge splurge for me). All he did was talk about his girlfriend he had while stationed in Germany, how awesome living there, was really a totally self-centered snob. © SnooCauliflowers3851 / Reddit
  • The worst gifts I’ve ever received in my life have always been from my mother-in-law. This woman has a knack for giving people something totally useless.
She once gave me a blouse. It was quite pretty, but it was children’s size, for a 10-year-old girl, maybe. For Christmas, she brought me some chocolates that were so old they actually turned white. Their expiration date was 3 years ago.
And one of her latest gifts was her own shirt with red rose print, which she wore during holidays spent with us. She decided to leave this beauty to me “as an inheritance.” I’m scared even to think about what she will give me next. © Mamdarinka / VK
  • I’m in a relationship with a married man who is 10 years older than me. And now I am pregnant from him. I decided to keep the baby, and I’m 8 months pregnant already. The man didn’t like it at first: after all, he already had a daughter. So we split up.
But he got so excited when I told him he was having a son. Because he always wanted a son, but his wife can’t have children anymore. Now he wants to leave the family. Why did I get involved with a married man? © Mamdarinka / VK
  • I was a stay-at-home mom. Once my husband said to me, “You’re a leech, I’m so sick of you, and now I’m going to do whatever I want, and you can’t stop me.” Then he ran off with my best friend, who is unemployed, does not have custody of her own child, and sits around doing nothing except playing WoW and racking up bills. Have fun with your new leech! © DeweyDecimator020 / Reddit
  • My dad died when I was in my early twenties unexpectedly. Understandably, I was distraught and not sleeping well; I spent a lot of nights crying myself to sleep. On one of these occasions, my significant other at the time told me, not even a month after my father’s death, “You have to get over it eventually.” And then asked me to sleep on the couch if I was going to keep interrupting his sleep. © Privilegedwhite*** / Reddit
  • Went on holiday. Checked into a hotel, thinking I’d get a decent night’s sleep. But I didn’t. There stayed a family next door with a capricious, always screaming daughter. But I didn’t put up with it.
I caught the moment when the girl was alone and pretended to talk on the phone, “No, I am a witch who brews potions only from naughty, nasty children. I just found one here. I’ll steal her tonight!” The girl didn’t scream again until they left. At least, now, I can say that some men call me “a witch” for a reason. © Chamber 6 / VK

And here are some women who realized that a sense of humor makes their life so much easier.
