16 People Who Finally Made Their Childhood Dreams Come True

Childhood dreams seem to us like magic, which is sometimes forgotten with time. However, some people don’t leave their dreams behind and do their best to make them come true. That is why we have put together stories about how childhood dreams became part of adulthood.

  • I’m 33, and I finally fulfilled my childhood dream of getting a dog. My parents were against it, but I had always dreamed of a furry friend. After Christmas, I became my own Santa Claus and got a Labrador named Taiga.
My life changed with her: I began to sleep better, to walk more, and found new friends among dog owners. Taking care of Taiga takes time, but the joy she brings overcomes everything. Dreams should come true — at any age! © FrolkaLi / Pikabu
  • When I was a little girl, I asked for those pink Barbie Jeeps and I never got one. I’m an adult and bought myself a Jeep Wrangler, knowing damn well I’m living my little girl fantasies. © tiny_toni / Reddit
  • My stepmom growing up was always cold, so she kept the house set to 80 degrees all year (we lived in Florida, too). So now that I have my own place, I don’t even care what the electric bill is, the place stays at 68 all year. If I get cold, I wear some socks and drink hot chocolate, and think about all the times I couldn’t sleep because I was too sweaty and hot, and now I sleep like a baby. © Werew0lfBlood / Reddit
  • When I was a kid, I dreamed of having a PlayStation. Relatives bought it to their kids, and I was jealous to the point of shivering. But our family couldn’t afford that kind of spending. I understood that and didn’t ask for it.
Years passed, university, work, and I forgot about the console. But recently, as a gray-bearded man, I decided to fulfil my childhood dream. I bought a PS5 and I play with pleasure. Yeah, my family grumble, “Why does a grown man need toys?” But it’s my dream, and I fulfilled it. © grimoura / Pikabu
  • When I was 9, my mom gave me a Sega. At 15, she bought me a computer on credit. But I never got a LEGO.
Recently, I was walking through a shopping mall, walked into a shop and bought a LEGO Technic set. It was the same thrill as when I was given a console as a kid. 36 hours later, I assembled my first set! My only regret is that I didn’t do it earlier! © moiseyka / Pikabu
  • My older sister wanted to learn violin, so my parents bought her one, and she never played. Then she wanted to learn guitar, so they bought her one and lessons, but she never learned.
So when I was at the age of music classes starting, I asked to learn the violin and my parents said, “No, your sister wasted money, and we won’t make that mistake again.” But I got one for myself on the first job, I’m not great, but I try to practice when I have time. © Objective_Suspect_ / Reddit
  • When I was a kid, I dreamed of having my own trolleybus. I promised myself that I would wash it every day to keep it clean and cheerful. But adulthood changed everything: studies, work, and the dream was forgotten.
One day I was riding on a trolleybus, I saw a job post saying they were looking for drivers. I thought for a long time whether it was worth it. My husband supported me.
6 months of study, practice, and I got “my own” trolleybus. My childhood dream has come true! And yes, I wash my trolleybus, as promised. © Anastasia.Vet / Pikabu
  • I studied abroad in Italy. People in my family didn’t go to other countries unless it was the few who were deployed. So, this was sort of an “out there” dream.
And maybe it was just the circles I ran in, but studying abroad wasn’t that common of a concept in general. I wanted to do this since I was 10. The dream realized in 2006. © Hagrids*********** / Reddit
  • A week ago, my boyfriend found out that I had never had a bicycle. He asked me what kind of bicycle I dreamed of. I told him: pink, with a white basket and stickers.
3 days later, he gave me a bike like this and a pack of stickers! He said, “I don’t know if you want to stick them now, at 20 years old...” Of course, I did! He taught me how to ride in 2 days, and now we ride in the woods together. My childhood dream and the man of my dreams have all come true. © Chamber 6 / VK
  • From about 11, I always wanted to write songs and be in the entertainment business. I said in my HS yearbook that I was going to be a songwriter. I am now a nerdcore hip-hop artist carving my own niche genre, also doing work-for-hire vocal any songwriting jobs. I’m not rich, but I’m having fun and paying the bills, so I guess I’m living the dream. © ThaGataNegrra / Reddit
  • I met the minimum qualifications when the job was announced, and so I definitely applied to be an astronaut. I only made it 2 rounds before being disqualified, but the 10-year-old me was grateful I made the effort to apply. © Muddyfeet_muddycanoe / Reddit
  • I used to fantasize about being an adult and driving across the country, and stopping at a small town diner to eat. I saw people do this in movies, so it seemed cool to me for some reason. As an adult, I’ve done this many times on road trips, and always remember my strange little dream. © jwalkrufus / Reddit
  • My dream has come true: a billionaire has fallen in love with me and proposed. He says that I am not like everyone else, that I am not a gold digger, and that we have the same interests and views on everything.
And he has no idea that I knew absolutely everything about him long before we met. I went to his favorite restaurant for about 3 months until finally that “accidental” meeting happened. And “accidentally” all my favorite books and movies turned out to be his. He was overjoyed.
He walks around happy, carries me in his arms. And, it seems, I’m getting used to my image: well-read, well-educated... What could be wrong about that? © Overheard / Ideer
  • I met a guy, he was interesting, charismatic. But I couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t tell me where he studied, but I didn’t insist. And guess where I met him?
My mother and I came to the educational theater of the drama academy, and there he was on stage. He explained later that many people condemned him for his choice of profession as an actor. And he had dreamed of it since childhood. I respected him even more. © Overheard / Ideer
  • My son brought postcards with cats from my mother, which I collected as a child. He asks, “Where did Grandma get a picture of our cat?” And he holds out one of the postcards.
Our Missy is on it, signed with my childish handwriting, “Someday you’ll be mine, sweet kitty.” My parents never let me have a cat. And a year ago, I found a kitten... Now I know who he reminded me so much of. © Overheard / Ideer
  • The other day, I fulfilled my lifelong dream. I was in a shop. A sales assistant came up to me and asked if he could help me.
Making the most epic face possible, I said in a low and pompous voice, “I’m looking for Sarah Connor.” The sales assistant walked away. And I was escorted out of the shop. But how happy I was! © Overheard / Ideer

And here’s another bunch of stories where people made their lifelong dreams come true.
