17 People Whose Office Could Be a Sitcom

It is not for nothing that there are many sitcoms about office life. There are good teams out there, and there are not so good ones. The heroes of our article are definitely not bored during the working process — there is always something going on in their offices.

  • I have a very strict boss — a man who spares no expense on really valuable employees. The company flourishes under him, but his main policy is strictness. Everyone respects and fears him. So, we recently rented a big office.
We came there to get acquainted with the heads of departments, and our boss was met by Mrs. Cole, the cleaning lady. When our boss started to walk on the just washed floor, Mrs. Cole first gently warned him, and then she shouted, “I don’t care if he’s the boss. The floors have just been cleaned, and you should respect other people’s labor!”
Do you think they fired her? No. On the contrary, instead of a temporary part-time job, she was offered a year-long contract with a salary twice as high as we usually pay workers in this field. © Ward 6 | Anonymous Stories / Telegram
  • Back then, in my part-time job, my workmate was dating 2 women. Wild thing about it was he dated one who had the morning shift and one on the evening. Sometimes I wonder how he managed his time and energy to do that. None of us knew, not until girl A and B worked the same shift. © ImpossiblyLivid / Reddit
  • Today I paralyzed the office for about an hour. During the break, I got a call from my boyfriend, whom we dated for a year and moved in together a month ago. He informed me that we’re breaking up.
The reason was because he had run out of clean underwear and shirts, which he thought I, as a decent woman, should have washed for him. He was tired of wearing dirty clothes, so he took his things and moved out.
I was hysterical: I was crying with resentment and laughing at the same time at the fact that he himself is not able to throw things into the washing machine. Naturally, my colleagues came up to me and asked me what was wrong.
I told them, and they sat down next to me — they laughed and tried to support me at the same time. Anyway, I gathered half the office around me until the boss came and sent us all back to work. © Caramel / VK
  • My boss is very strict, picking on everything. If you tie your tie the wrong way, you get a reprimand. But he’s somehow easier with me, he hardly ever reprimands me.
There’s a rumor in the office that we’re having an affair. He and I sometimes laugh about it, but we don’t say anything to anyone. Let them talk about it if they’re bored.
And then at family gatherings, we remember how we used to paint our grandmother’s fence together when we were kids. It’s convenient when your boss is your cousin. © Not everyone will understand / VK
  • I hired a girl. One day her husband, who turned out to be my ex, came to pick her up after work. I said hello, nothing else.
The next day, this new girl comes into my office and calmly says, “Thank you for hiring me.” And then she goes and raises her tone sharply, “But if you keep looking at my husband, I’ll give you a hard time! Okay?”
And then she smiled again, said “thank you” and ran off to work. I didn’t expect that. © Not everyone will understand / VK
  • My boss is 68 years old. And I’m a young girl, her deputy. All the work is on me, including hers. I work my butt off to please her. And she accuses me of incompetence every day.
It’s been like this for 4 years. I said, “I’ve had enough, I’m quitting!” And she replies, “No, I’m not letting you go.”
Then why would she want an incompetent worker like me? And why did she have to hire me in the first place? © Overheard / Ideer
  • At work, someone was stealing my food from the fridge, but I couldn’t figure out who was doing it. I began to suspect everyone, approaching and asking if they had accidentally eaten it. Naturally, no one confessed.
In the end, the thief gave himself away. He shouldn’t have eaten the yogurt that had been sitting on my windowsill for a fortnight. In the middle of the working day, the thief jumped up from his seat and ran to the toilet. He didn’t make it in time, though. Maybe that’s harsh, but he doesn’t touch my containers anymore. © Work Stories / VK
  • I work in a big city. Recently, my grandmother calls me and says that she has saved up money to come to visit me, to see the city, to be with me — because she misses me very much. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get vacation for those dates, and my grandmother quickly got bored of walking around the city alone.
A couple of days later, she secretly got a job in my office. Now she cleans there, feeds all the workers with soups, cutlets and other goodies, and earns quite well. Today, she announced that she was selling her flat and moving in with me. Later, she was going to rent a flat next door and take me on vacation to the Dominican Republic.
She asked me if I would mind if the security guard from the office, with whom they had a romantic relationship, came with us. I think I really want to be like my grandmother when I get older. © Ward 6 | Stories Anonymous / Telegram
  • My coworker is not the most beautiful woman in the world, and has always been anxious about it. But on her birthday, she got her hair and makeup done and wore a checkered dress. She was beautiful!
Everything was going well, but suddenly a male coworker decided to compliment her and said, “You are so beautiful today, like a chessboard!” Oh, those men and their compliments. © Work Stories / VK
  • My husband and I worked for a large company. I was pregnant with my third, and my belly was not yet visible. A young diva comes up to me and says, “I’m your husband’s mistress. Let him go. He doesn’t love you and wants a divorce.”
I didn’t cry, I just told her, “Okay, I’ll let him go. Just be aware that we have 2 children and a third one on the way. All the money will go to the children.
Most of the property is registered in their names and mine. You’ll cook for him, you’ll do his laundry. And for me, he’ll be a weekend husband. That’s even better for me.”
She stormed out of my office in shock. At home, I confronted my husband, and he couldn’t understand who we were talking about.
In the end, it turned out that the lady was lying, because in the conversation she mentioned the corporate party, at which she allegedly started a relationship with my husband. But the thing is, I was at that party with him. I just didn’t remember it right away because of the shock I was in.
  • In our office, there is no ban on office romances, but they are perceived ambiguously. Recently, my coworkers got caught in a very funny way.
Ian often brought his dog to work, but it almost never approached us — we were strangers to it. Everyone knew this and was okay with this. However, as time went on, Artemis (that was the dog’s name) began to climb under Lena’s desk all the time.
And then we realized that something was behind it. As it turned out, it was at that time that he and Lena started having an affair. Yes, people can be fooled, but this won’t work with animals. © Caramel / VK
  • A charming female employee has joined our team. I am not afraid to say that I have never met a woman this beautiful and perfect in every way. All the women in the office both admire and envy her.
In general, everything is as it should be in a female team. But I’m not jealous. She inspired me to start taking care of myself.
For the first time in my life, men are paying attention to me. And this morning, a colleague told me I look amazing. I feel like I’ve conquered the world! Thanks to a new colleague. © Work Stories / VK
  • A coworker suddenly announced that she was now a vegetarian. And it would be fine if she just ate her vegetables and didn’t touch anyone. But she demands that no one in the office should eat meat. No sausage or the smell of meatballs.
We laughed, but she seriously started doing lunch inspections, unceremoniously peering into other people’s lunchboxes. She found my boiled chicken breast last week and hasn’t spoken to me for a few days. © Caramel / VK
  • I am a pretty young girl who knows what subordination and teamwork are. I am always helping everyone and correcting my colleagues’ mistakes, but for some reason the management only picks on me. The peak of absurdity was a reprimand from the boss for too sensual perfume scent! © Overheard / Ideer
  • Two of my friends at work were close, male (married with children) and female (single). We had a close-knit team and work in tech, so it’s not odd at all to hang out after hours or have some drinks in the office. A rumor was started by those outside of our group that they hooked up one night.
At first, they found it sort of funny and didn’t take it seriously. However, it went too far and the male was furious. He was married, his wife was pregnant, and it wasn’t funny to mess with his life like this. He resigned, he was so upset.
I’m still in touch with both of them. They’re happily married (to other people) and are growing their families. There was never anything between them. © ohno807 / Reddit
  • I had a guy from the office chasing me. He went after me for a long time and finally got me. But we decided to keep it quiet. He was always flirting with someone else in front of me, saying it was just a friendly chat.
When I got tired of it, I said that I was tired of hiding and offered to tell everyone. But he said that we were just friends with benefits. I told him to get lost.
Then he started tailing me around the office, pretending nothing had happened. He thought we’d still have a good relationship, just without seeing each other outside the office. And he was very surprised by my total ignorance.
  • I worked at a daycare center when I was 18. An engaged couple in their mid-twenties both started working there around the same time as me, and several months later a really stunning woman around their age was hired. It wasn’t long before the guy dumped his fiancée for the new woman.
I would have thought the dumpee would have wanted to leave as soon as possible so she wouldn’t have to see them together every day, but nope. She came to work and burst into tears every time she saw either one of them. © readitinamagazine / Reddit
