Kissing your child on the lips might cause cavities, trigger allergies, and confuse their sense of personal space. Even though some famous people like David Beckham share photos of them kissing their kids on the lips, they get criticized. However, many moms and dads view it as a harmless way to show love.

It’s his way of expressing affection.

The ex-Manchester United player received backlash from certain supporters when he posted a picture of himself kissing his daughter on the lips. Nevertheless, he strongly thinks this act is a pure way to show affection to a child.

“I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up and Victoria and how we are with our children,” he explained. “We want to show our kids love, and you know, we’re very affectionate with them,” he included.

He showers all of his kids with love.

Beckham often shares selfies on his Instagram, where he gives loving kisses on the lips to his 11-year-old daughter, Harper. He mentioned sharing this affectionate moment with most of his kids.

“I got criticized for kissing my daughter on the lips. I kiss all my kids on the lips. Brooklyn, maybe not. Brooklyn’s 18, he might find that a little bit strange,” he once explained.

He always puts his kids first.

Beckham became a dad when he was just 23 years old. Even though he had a successful career and a busy schedule, he always puts his family first and ensures he spends time with them.

“I think you mature quicker with kids. You have more important things to worry about than your everyday worries, and life becomes about the kids. I think that’s what you learn as a father, you become less important, and it’s all about your children,” he explained.

He supports his kids in pursuing their dreams.

Beckham mentioned that none of his four kids have shown an interest in following his path into a soccer career, and he fully supports their decisions. “None of my children at the moment want to be a footballer. That’s okay because you don’t want to force anybody into doing anything. It’s important to show kids love, support, encouragement. We’ve always supported our kids in whatever they want to do,” he shared.

Like David Beckham, many celebrities often share pictures of themselves kissing their children on the lips, but psychologists warn against it. Do you want to read more exciting stories about celebrity families? Then make sure to read our previous article!
