Emily Blunt Is Taking a Break From Acting and Reveals That She Feels Guilty for Being Too Ambitious
Being a beloved celeb comes with its own challenges. And motherhood is one of the most demanding roles that celebrities juggle alongside their careers. Balancing the demands of a thriving career and the responsibilities of raising children can be daunting. Emily feels like she sacrificed too much time for her career and didn’t have enough time for her family the past year.
Finding joy in being present and dealing with guilt.
Emily and her husband, John Krasinski, have two beautiful daughters, Hazel, 9, and Violet, 7. During a recent interview, Emily mentioned that she worked “quite a lot” last year, but currently she decided to take a break.
Since her oldest child is nine years old, marking the final year of single digits, the actress realized that she needs to be in her life now more than ever. Blunt believes that crucial moments in her children’s daily routines hold great significance, particularly when they are young.
Being there for them when they wake up, taking them to school, picking them up, and putting them to bed are essential aspects she wants to prioritize from now on. Blunt feels a strong instinctual need to be present for all of these moments, and it resonates deeply within her.
She explained that taking on lengthy jobs has a significant “emotional cost” for her and her children.
In the interview where Emily talked about her current situation, it was also revealed that she tends to experience feelings of guilt, she said, “very prone to guilt — I think maybe all mothers are.”
The Mary Poppins star expressed that it is not unusual to feel a sense of guilt for desiring something beyond the role of being a mother. She also shared her strong support for ambitious women embracing and pursuing their dreams with purpose, highlighting that ambition itself is not an unattractive concept, but mothers must find a healthy balance.
Blunt desires her children to discover something they passionately love doing as they grow up. She finds joy in her children having a working mother who exemplifies passion and dedication.
The actress mentioned that her work schedule often fluctuates between busy periods and quieter times, reaching a point where she eagerly yearns to return to the film set.
How Emily handled being away until now, and the strict rule she always follows.
In the same interview, she revealed her strict rule of not being away from her children for more than two weeks at a time. She acknowledged that although her children have adapted to their unique lifestyle, it can still be challenging for them when she has to be away.
After all, she humorously shared that her daughters are somewhat “horrified” by her profession as an actor. “Because they just want me to be their mom”, she said.
Another excellent example of a balance between career and motherhood is Julia Roberts, who skillfully manages both. It’s admirable that she prioritizes her family while still following her passion for acting. She’s also not afraid to take on various household roles, such as cooking, sewing, and cleaning, to ensure her three kids are well taken care of.
