Hilary Duff Recalls Being Mommy Shamed Over Kissing 3-Year-Old Son Luca on the Lips

One day, our beloved Hilary Duff shared a photo where she could be seen kissing her eldest kid, Luca. While they were indeed trying to have a joyful moment in Disneyland, right after posting the picture, the comment section took a different turn. But Duff had a perfect response for all those who find kissing their kids on the lips awful.

Hilary Duff isn’t bothered by unsolicited criticism regarding her parenting. The talented singer and beloved Younger star, now 35 years old, candidly shared her thoughts on motherhood. She spoke openly about how she handles negative comments regarding her relationship with her beloved son, Luca Cruz.

“People were like, ‘That’s disgusting,’” Duff recalled.

Duff shares a strong bond with her eldest child, Luca Cruz Comrie, and unfortunately, their relationship has faced scrutiny in the past through comments on Instagram and other online platforms. Reflecting on a previous incident, the actress mentioned how she posted a picture of herself kissing Luca on the lips a few years ago during their visit to Disneyland.

Luca, now eleven years old, is the cherished son of Duff and her ex-partner, retired professional ice hockey player Mike Comrie. Reflecting on the incident, the former Disney Channel star emphasized that Luca was only three years old.

She boldly expressed her perspective, saying, “First of all, he was 3. Kiss your kids and anyone who doesn’t like it can hit unfollow. Not interested in what you have to say.”

In the photo above, you can see her and Luca sharing a kiss on the lips during their visit to Disneyland. She remembered people expressing their aversion toward the image. “People just have all these crazy judgments, and I think it’s best not to listen and laugh it off,” Duff noted.

Some Instagram users disapproved of the kiss, claiming that there were alternative ways to demonstrate affection and that it could be confusing or unhealthy for her son. Fortunately, Hilary had a legion of fans who swiftly came to her defense, emphasizing that Luca’s young age of 3 made the display of affection perfectly normal and that she had the freedom to express her love in whatever way felt right to her.

Everyone has their perspective on kissing children on the lips, and, understandably, it may not be everyone’s preference. Ultimately, it is a personal choice and one of many ways to express affection toward children.
