10 Beauty Products You Can Make in Your Own Kitchen

Taking care of your appearance is a lot of work and, at the same time, can be pretty costly. A recent survey showed that, over a lifetime, women spend $225,360 on beauty products and services and men spend $175,000.

We at Bright Side also like to be beautiful, and we found a way to do so without making a hole in the budget. Here are some natural products that you can make at home to help yourself always look great.

1. Natural teeth whitener

Everyone wants to have white teeth, and we’ve tried different commercial products to get this effect. Baking soda has a proven effect of teeth whitening, and you can make your own paste with it at home.

You will need:
1 tbsp baking soda
Water

Just mix baking soda and water to get a paste. Then apply the mixture onto your teeth. Leave it for 1-2 minutes and wash it off. You’ll need to repeat this every day to get whiter teeth.

2. Natural blackhead remover

Baking soda is very good for sloughing off dead skin and bacteria and removing blackheads, so you definitely need to try this at home.

You will need:
1 tbsp baking soda
Water

Mix the ingredients to get a paste-like consistency. Apply it on your nose and let it fully dry. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off.

3. Homemade sugaring wax

Sugaring is a great way to get rid of unwanted hair on your body, and it’s very easy to make at home!

You will need:
2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
1/2 cup of lemon juice
2 cups of water

Mix all the components and heat them for 8-10 minutes until the mixture becomes golden. Then let it cool down, it will become sticky like a wax. Keep it in the fridge and get it when you’re ready to use it. Spread the wax using your fingertips and pull softly in the direction of the hair growth.

4. Homemade lip balm

Try making your own lip balm at home, you will have really nice experience and get a natural product as a result.

You will need:
2 tsp raspberry gelatin mix
2 tbsp coconut oil
3-4 drops of lemon essential oil

Heat up coconut oil in the microwave for 20 seconds, then add the raspberry gelatin mix and mix them together. Microwave the mixture again until the gelatin melts, then add the lemon essential oil and mix it. Pour it into a lip balm container and keep in the fridge until it solidifies.

5. Homemade fresh scrub

As you may know, cucumbers are full of antioxidants and have a good soothing effect on the skin. Along with the fresh aroma of peppermint, it makes a great body scrub, which you can easily make at home.

You will need:
1/4 cucumber, unpeeled
3/4 cup white sugar
2 tbsp coconut oil
8-10 drops peppermint essential oil

Puree the cucumber, add the sugar and coconut oil, and blend them together. Add peppermint oil, store the mixture in a container, and put it in the fridge.

6. Natural dry shampoo for oily hair

Instead of washing your oily hair too often with shampoo, you can try this natural method.

You will need:
2 and 1/2 tbsp of cornstarch
3-4 drops of essential oil (lavender or rose)

Just mix the ingredients and softly dust it on your hair. Leave it for 5 minutes and then remove the excess powder with a brush. The cornstarch will soak up the oil and dirt and leave your hair clean and fresh.

7. Natural skin toner

Aloe vera is known for its various health benefits. And some of those can be used for skincare, especially when you do everything on your own! You can make a great skin toner out of aloe vera gel, which can be easily scooped from the leaf. Just massage the gel on your skin and leave it for 15 minutes, then wash it off with warm water. You will see how it will hydrate, clear, and energize your skin.

8. Natural makeup remover

The only thing you need to remove your make up is coconut oil! Just gently apply it to your face, and leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing. It will clean and moisturize your skin like nothing else, and it won’t make your skin dry like other store-bought make up removers.

9. Natural homemade perfume

Why not try to make your own absolutely natural perfume at home? Especially when it’s so simple and will only take a few minutes!

You will need:
10-12 drops of essential oil (rose, lavender, etc.)
Carrier oil (jojoba, almond)
Roll-on bottles

Just mix all of the ingredients and put the mixture in a spray bottle. Use it whenever you need some long-lasting fragrance.

10. Natural eyelash and eyebrow enhancer

There is a natural product that can replace fake lashes and mascara. Castor oil is the magic ingredient that affects hair growth. If you apply it on your lashes and brows regularly, it will make them look fuller without any other cosmetics.
