Promising review: I have the Netatmo smart thermostat and 10 smart thermostatic radiator valves in my house. Installation was easy — I just took my old thermostat off the wall and attached the new one, connected the radio/Wi-Fi adapter to the mains, and it was pretty much off to the races. You then connect the TRVs and create rooms (I have a big open-plan living room with 4 TRVs and the thermostat, so that was one room, and 4 bedrooms, and 2 hallways).
My understanding was that when one of the rooms was turned on, it would request heat without the main thermostat room needing to be turned on. This was not how it was working, and I was confused and frustrated because I thought I had spent £700 on something that didn’t do what I wanted. But that was when I did a little investigating and discovered that you need to wait up to 48 hours for the TRVs to update to the latest firmware.
