The Bright Side team brought together 10 people who were discovered by accident and turned from ordinary people into celebrities overnight.

1. Natalie Portman

At the age of 10, Natalie Portman was discovered by a modeling agent from Revlon in a pizza shop. She was a determined and driven child who disliked modeling and instead decided to pursue acting. She was cast as Mathilda in Luc Besson’s Léon: The Professional about a year later.

2. Angus Cloud

On a whim, Angus Cloud, best known as Fezco in Euphoria, became famous. A casting agent from HBO spotted him on a New York City sidewalk in Manhattan and offered him the role. Angus said that he didn’t want to give her his number because he believed it was a scam.

3. Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford first worked as a carpenter before he became an actor, as he wasn’t satisfied with the roles he was offered. One day, he got hired to build a door for George Lucas. It just so happened that Lucas was casting for his next movie, Star Wars.

4. Johnny Depp

At age 13, Depp started playing music in Miami and had no intention of becoming an actor. Instead, he wanted to be a musician. He struggled to make a living off of his music. Consequently, Nick Cage sent him on an audition for Nightmare on Elm Street.

5. Jennifer Lawrence

In the 1990s, Rosario Dawson sat on her front porch and watched a commercial being shot outside her New York apartment building. By chance, director and screenwriters Harmony Korine and Larry Clark approached her and asked if she’d want to appear in a film. Ruby was her first part in Clark’s Kids.

7. Sarah Michelle Gellar

At age 4, Sarah Michelle Gellar was eating with her mother at a Manhattan restaurant when an agent spotted her. The agent asked her daughter if she would like to pursue a career in Hollywood. One week later, she was in the movie, An Invasion of Privacy.

8. Angie Harmon

The story of how Angie Harmon got her start in acting began while she was on a plane with David Hasselhoff. He offered her a role on Baywatch Nights, which she declined because of her lack of acting experience. 2 weeks later, she accompanied her friend who went on an audition for him. He recognized her and re-offered her the role of Ryan McBride.

9. Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt’s acting career was launched by Canadian-American actor and director Rae Dawn Chong. When he was 19 years old, Pratt worked as a waiter at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and lived out of his truck until Chong offered him a role in Cursed Part 3.
