It’s always interesting to see what celebrities are wearing when we hear about the Met Gala. Gracefully designed, the dresses also complement the artistry of the designer. While we’re engrossed in the red carpet looks, we forget about the designers behind them, who spent countless hours and days to make them perfect.

We at Bright Side look forward to showing you some of them, as they’ll blow your mind and make you say, “Wow.”

1. Zendaya

Zendaya never fails to amaze us with her breathtaking fashion sense, so waiting for her looks is always worth it. Her dress was animatronic and slowly became blue as the night progressed. She wore a crystal gray, silk, evening gown. Cinderella was the brand’s inspiration, according to an email to InStyle. There were 20 carbon fiber rods, 5 batteries, 40 meters of LED light strips, and 6,000 controllable lights in this dress, according to the brand. It was made by 8 people over 3 months and weighed 11 pounds.

2. Nina Dobrev

The Vampire Diaries actress stunned everyone with her Met Gala attire in 2019. A robot made the dress, although it was designed by a human. Dobrev explained, “It was printed, over 60 or so hours it took to print the mold, and then the dress itself is a whole separate... it took about 6 to 8 weeks from the original fitting until now.”

3. Kylie Jenner

It’s no secret that Kylie Jenner is diligent about her appearance. This Versace attire she wore to the Met Gala just nailed it. Despite the fact that the sketches were sent to her 4 months before the event and within the span of 30 days, Versace’s seamstresses in Milan completed the dress in only 30 days. As always, Jenner looked impeccable in the purple Versace gown with lots of feathers.

4. Jennifer Aniston

Taking cues from the archives of Monsieur Dior, the gown had a strapless bodice and a nipped-in waist, followed by a full skirt and a train. 3 of Dior’s expert seamstresses, known as the “petites mains” (small hands), required 200 hours of labor to create this dress, which was crafted from 25 meters of wool-silk crêpe.

5. Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee Steinfeld wore the Magnetosphere dress, a piece made from 640 hours of labor by Rogan Brown with Iris van Herpen, a brand known for its technology-driven creations. It looks like something between a seafoam goddess and an extraterrestrial killer in its total effect, which is both organic and fantastical. What a look!

6. Katy Perry

It’s no surprise that Perry is dressed up as a glittery burger, complete with beef, cheese, and lettuce. With her burger bun unclipped, a strapless green dress mimicking a leaf of lettuce was revealed.

7. Kendall Jenner

In this interview, Kendall discusses her love for Audrey Hepburn and how she was inspired to create her Met Gala dress because of her. The designer, Matthew M. Williams, explains how the look came together, including the 2,500 hours worth of work by 30 different beaders.

8. Priyanka Chopra

A designer from the United States, who had previously only made wedding dresses for family members, created a stunning long-sleeved wedding gown that took 1,826 hours to bead and embroider. The dress featured a high-neck collar, lace-effect tulle appliqués, and a figure-hugging silhouette that we can’t get enough of — elegant, modern, and luxurious.

9. Kim Kardashian

Beaded crystals hung off the reality star’s latex corseted dress as if they were water drops. “This is the first time in 20 years Mr. Mugler has designed for the House of Mugler,” she told Vogue. “So to come and design this gown for me is such an honor. This is about 8 months in the making. He envisioned me this California girl stepping out of the ocean, wet, dripping.”

10. Rihanna

The dress was a celebration of a Chinese designer’s work, cobbled together from a few old kimonos, in keeping with the Gala — not to mention that the dress is a stunning example of couture fashion. According to Vanity Fair, the piece was handmade by a woman in China over a period of 2 years. Despite being unable to walk in the dress, RiRi said, “It’s worth it so much.”

Struggling to find the perfect balance between her career and motherhood, Rihanna opens up about the challenges of being a new mom. While she’s thriving as a parent, the singer admits that work commitments often rob her of precious time with her child. This has made her more selective about the projects she takes on, ensuring they are truly worth her time. Despite the challenges, motherhood has boosted her confidence, as evidenced by her exhilarating performance at the Super Bowl halftime show.
