When we see a tattoo we never know what it means for a certain person. And celebs are no exception. A small star can represent grandma, while a seemingly ordinary caption reminds them to respect what they have. Whole stories of struggles, losses, family, and hard work can be seen in simple yet expressive tattoos.

Among all of them, we at Bright Side chose the most powerful reasons that made celebs get certain tattoos. And these works of art will never be cause for regret.

Kevin Jonas

Kevin Jonas paid a sweet tribute to his wife, Danielle Jonas. “So proud of this time in our life and getting to remember this forever,” he wrote.

Megan Fox

Megan tattooed her right shoulder with a beautiful line from one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays, King Lear. It reminds her “to not get too caught up in Hollywood because people will end up laughing at you.”

Chrissy Teigen

The famous model and her husband lost their son in September 2020. The parents were going to name him Jack. Sometime later Chrissy honored their baby and tattooed his name on her wrist.

Dua Lipa

The tattoo that says “Sunny Hill” was the first and most special tattoo that Dua Lipa got. This is because it’s the name of the neighborhood in Kosovo where her parents grew up. This is a place that feels like home to Dua.

Sam Smith

Sam tattooed symbols for female and male genders on their fingers. They’ve struggled with gender identity for a long time. And in 2019, came out as a non-binary.

Ed Sheeran

This singer has a sweet tribute to his mom. It’s a tattoo of mother and child based on a painting by Henri Matisse. As Ed says, this drawing was the first thing he bought for his mom with his first paycheck.

Gisele Bündchen

This supermodel got a star to honor her late grandmom. The idea came after moving to New York where Gisele could see no stars. She drew it on her wrist herself and later turned it into a permanent tattoo.

Lady Gaga

The draft of this tattoo was designed by Tony Bennett himself. Lady Gaga got it to commemorate their collaborative album and friendship. She even tattooed his signature below the trumpet.

Kesha

Kesha got this tattoo after releasing her new album Rainbow. Before this, she went through hard times being in rehab and being in a long litigation with her producer Dr. Luke. She says this is a positive message for herself.

Miley Cyrus

“Just breathe” was done in honor of the singer’s late grandfathers who had lung cancer and her close friend with cystic fibrosis. They all couldn’t breathe. This tattoo reminds Miley to not take anything for granted.

Luce Hale

The actress got a matching tattoo with her sister. It says “I love you” and symbolizes their connection. It’s written in their grandmothers’ writing who they were very close to and loved a lot.

Paris Jackson

The daughter of the King of Pop has 3 tattoos devoted to her dad. “BAD” recreates the title and style of his album. She also has his face and the words “Apple Head,” the nickname she used for her dad.

I have a tattoo, one I regret. Initials of my name and boyfriends. We broke up two weeks after the tattoo. I still have it and I still love him.
