15 Mishaps That Filmmakers Thought No One Would Notice

Ingmar Bergman would say that cinema is like dreams, it is the only art that goes directly into our feelings. To achieve this, there is a whole army of people working so that the magic is not lost at any moment and we, the viewers, can get right into the story. However, not everything is always perfect, and mistakes are made that the very observant might have noticed and that many filmmakers would like to be able to eliminate.

1. It (2017)

In the movie It, a group of young boys has to deal with the terrible clown Pennywise. To prepare themselves before confronting the clown, they go to a pharmacy to get some supplies. What is striking is that the shelves are full of products with modern packaging that did not exist in 1989, the year in which the story takes place.

2. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)

In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, we can see that the character of Tails has a backpack at one point, but in an earlier scene, it was in the possession of another character. In the next shot, the backpack disappears.

3. The Gentlemen (2019)

In The Gentlemen, when we first meet Rosalind’s character, we see her walking in distinctive black Louboutin shoes with red soles. But moments later, when she leaves the office, the shoes have changed and no longer have red soles.

4. Black Widow (2021)

At the beginning of Black Widow, which is set in 1995, little Yelena carries with her a pair of stuffed animals from the show My Little Pony, but this series premiered in 2010, 15 years after the scene takes place.

5. Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

At the beginning of Thor: Love and Thunder, we see Gorr, played by Christian Bale, kneeling before the gods and begging for their blessing. But between scenes, the actor’s distinctive wart changes sides several times, indicating that some shots were rotated.

6. The Lost City (2022)

In The Lost City, Loretta (Sandra Bullock) has to slide down a hill and ruins her sequin suit, which loses several sequins. But a few minutes later, the suit is intact again.

7. Pinocchio (2022)

In the 2022 version of this Disney classic, there is a scene in which Pinocchio is playing pool with another boy. The billiard balls constantly change places between shots without anyone touching them.

8. The Adam Project (2022)

In The Adam Project, when young Adam’s mother is about to go on a date, her dress first appears perfectly zipped from the back. But just as she is about to leave, it is unzipped, and Adam helps her with it. The mistake is obvious, as it occurs in the last part of the scene.

9. House of the Dragon (2022)

In episode 3 of the new series of the Game of Thrones universe, fans noticed that one of the characters, King Viserys, was wearing a green glove so that the team could digitally remove some fingers in post-production. However, the scene was broadcast like that. Although the producers promised to fix it, it was very noticeable and went viral.

10. Top Gun (1986)

After the final battle in Top Gun, Maverick (Tom Cruise) and Ice (Val Kilmer) exchange a few words and Maverick removes his glasses, but seconds later, we see him being lifted by his companions with the glasses on.

11. Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)

In this Netflix movie starring Mila Kunis, her character, Tiffany, goes to a TV interview dressed in a green blouse and a black skirt. For some inexplicable reason, as the interview progresses, we later see her in a black blouse and a white skirt.

12. Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

In the last part of Jurassic World Dominion, there’s a scene in the lab where 2 of the characters are discussing prehistoric lobsters. They are in front of a computer that is not connected to the electric current, which would make it unusable.

13. Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)

In Bridget Jones’s Diary, the coat that the protagonist places on her seat during her second day at the office changes position several times while she is sitting down.

14. Black Widow (2021)

In Black Widow, in the first fight scene between Natasha and Taskmaster, there is a part where the 2 are facing each other at a relatively long distance. In the next shot, the space is considerably reduced, which is a mistake since neither they nor the camera have moved position.

15. Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

In Fast & Furious 6, we see Hobbs’ character in a scene with his distinctive padlock beard. But a few seconds later, while in the car, it’s shaved off, and when he gets out of the car, it magically appears again. It’s a clear continuity error that the production missed.

What mistakes have you or your co-workers made that you couldn’t take back?

The much-anticipated sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” showcases Tom Cruise’s commitment to authenticity. Instead of relying on CGI, real jets were used for filming, with actors experiencing genuine aerial stunts. Cruise’s passion for realism was evident as he flew some of the planes himself. The production involved shooting approximately 800 hours of footage, more than the combined footage of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. The film also pays homage to the original, evoking nostalgia for fans. The meticulous process of placing cameras on the airplanes took 15 months, emphasizing the dedication to capturing genuine, high-quality aerial sequences.
