What 8 Celebrities Who Mysteriously Left the Scene Do Now
Talented people can easily find a way into our hearts and stay there for a long, long time. When watching our favorite characters on-screen or listening to the music of beloved musicians, we feel like a part of it all — we feel connected. But sometimes, we suddenly realize they all have disappeared from things without a trace. Hopefully, we can fill in all the gaps and tell you how our favorite celebrities are doing today.
1. Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan was very popular throughout the 1990s. Yet, over the last few decades, she has taken a break from acting. “I wasn’t as curious about acting as I was about other things that life can give you,” she said. “I wanted to live more.”
She also stated that when you’re famous, you never know who’s telling you the truth. But the main reason for the break was still for her brain, self, and soul. We’re glad the 60-year-old actress finally decided to come back and confirmed working on her new movie, What Happens Later. It is set to premiere in 2023.
The singer became the best-selling solo artist in Irish history. However, we saw her last album in 2015; and since then, almost nothing has been heard about her.
Her previous album was released 7 years earlier. So it’s not the first time she has disappeared for such a long period of time. But in response to all the questions, she answered that she needed independence and honestly didn’t understand why the media was so obsessed with the topic.
In 1997, the star reportedly bought a Victorian castle in Killiney, South Dublin, and spent 7 years renovating the spectacular property. And today, she splits her time between her castle and a home in South France accompanied by her 12 cats and is waiting for her muse to strike again.
3. Rick Moranis
We all remember this funny guy from Ghostbusters, The Flintstones, and many other movies. And in the ’80s and ’90s, his career was at an all-time high. However, we cannot say the same about his personal life, which was the reason why he quit Hollywood and didn’t ever act in a movie again.
His wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, which then spread to her liver. Her condition worsened over time, so Moranis took a break from acting to spend time with her. She died in 1991, leaving Moranis responsible for raising their 2 little children alone.
The actor tried to balance his work and personal life for a while. But it became more and more difficult to raise his kids while traveling so much and making different movies. So he took another break, then another one, and then found that he didn’t miss it.
In the last few years, he was offered several movie parts, but turned them all down. Today, he’s doing a lot of writing and a lot of parenting. He lives in Manhattan with his family, leading a quiet and happy life with his kids, and he has no regrets about leaving Hollywood.
4. Jack Gleeson
The 25-year-old Irish actor left Game of Thrones in 2014 and remains pretty much out of the spotlight these days. He admitted that the lifestyle that comes with being an actor in a successful TV show wasn’t something he gravitated toward.
He went to study philosophy and theology at Trinity College in Dublin right after the show. And now, he lives a low-key, everyday life in the Irish capital. He’s popped up at a few fan conventions over the last couple of years to surprise his fans. But unfortunately, it is the best they can get from him these days.
5. Chris Tucker
Nobody knows why Chris Tucker put his acting career on hold in 2011. Instead, he went back to comedy clubs and concentrated on stand-up. “I wanted to go back to do stand-up and sharpen my craft, get back connected to my audience, with my fans,” says the actor. And it seems he loves doing it, since he’s always been a comedian first and an actor second.
6. Eliza Dushku
Eliza Dushku became most famous for her character, Faith, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But unfortunately, she hasn’t appeared in front of cameras since 2017 due to her problems with unhealthy habits.
She decided to change her life after her brother told her she couldn’t see her niece because “he couldn’t trust her.” Today, she intends to continue to work on her mental health and honor her role by being a global service activist.
7. Renée Zellweger
This is not the first time Renée Zellweger has taken a break from Hollywood. The first time it happened was in 2010. It was a sudden decision for fans, but not for the actress. She’s been working nonstop since 1994 and just needed some rest.
Then came 3 of her most famous movies, which were about her character, Bridget Jones, and then she disappeared again. It is said that it was her fellow actress and friend, Salma Hayek, who helped her realize she needed to stop and smell the roses.
“I was fatigued and wasn’t taking the time I needed to recover between projects,” said the actress. So it was just time for her to go away and grow up a bit. Her therapist helped her to focus more on health and happiness.
But despite all the depression and chaos, she’s put herself first on her list of priorities. Though, fortunately for us, she never actually quit acting. So in 2022, after 2 years of silence, we can see her in the TV miniseries, The Thing About Pam. We hope to see one more movie with her playing our favorite character again.
8. Josh Hartnett
Josh Hartnett never quit acting or disappeared from the big screen. It’s just that after Pearl Harbor, he got several other notable roles, but his career started to go slow, and now we can see him only in low-budget flicks. Nevertheless, he continues to toil away in Hollywood.
Hartnett states that the cost of fame was more than it was worth, and revealed he has turned down several lead roles in recent superhero blockbusters. We all hope his star will rise again one day, and we’ll enjoy many great movies with him in leading roles.
