Failing is a collective experience most of us have lived through. According to psychologists, when something doesn’t go the way we planned, the healthiest thing we can do is to just focus on the things we can control, even if that means just having a good laugh about our misfortunes.

1. “We ordered the cake on the left and received the cake on the right... Elmo has seen better days.”

2. “Trying to even out my tan on my lunch break.”

3. “My girlfriend tried to bake Minion cookies...”

4. “Didn’t realize one of my glove fingers broke until I was done dyeing my hair.”

5. “My younger brother, who moves out in 2 weeks, tried to make a pizza.”

6. “For the past 3 years, my wife has made me a Yoshi cake for my birthday. They’re always terrible, but I don’t care.”

7. “Waited the entire summer to harvest potatoes and this is all my garden produced.”

8. “My wife said measure the door, I told her all doors are the same size.”

9. “I was running late for work today, so my dad packed my lunch.”

10. “Playing hide and seek with a toddler is always a thrill.”

11. “Mom decided to make this veggie lodge for Christmas. It wasn’t working out right, so she ’fixed it’.”

12. “My dad was gonna go for a run. He laid down to stretch his back. Found him asleep 30 minutes later.”

13. “I commend my boy for always opening bags in the most unacceptable manner possible.”

14. “I used chocolate bells instead of kisses.”

15. “My kid just made Marge Simpson out of clay.”

16. “Trying to explain to the 70-year-old Swiss man who offered to take our pic that his finger was covering the lens.”

17. “My nephew’s faces on pillows for a Mother’s Day gift was a great idea in theory.”

18. “My 62-year-old mother dressed as the creature from The Shape of Water for her Oscar party.”

19. “Was picking up my grandmother from an eye surgery center when I noticed every single sign was bent back.”

20. “I tried to grow potatoes, 10 weeks after I get this.”

21. “My mom ordered a graduation cake with a cap drawn on. I guess they misheard.”

22. “There was an attempt to cook a pancake for my daughter.”

23. “I did my best...”

The thing that's wrong with the Elmo cake is that it looks like the person ordered the icing to be made from the whipped icing, when the original was made with buttercream. The whipped icing was not able to hold all of the color because it was likely made with liquid food coloring instead of gel coloring and tiny drops were sweating through and laying on top of the icing. The same tip was used as the first cake but whipped icing won't look defined like the buttercream. The person should have told the customer that it wouldn't turn out the same, and she may have tried to tell them. When a customer is set on a specific cake and a specific icing, sometimes all you can do is make it and let them see how it turns out, or refuse to make it. Because you know that the customer isn't going to want to accept the responsibility for the results if they don't like it. The best thing a business can do is have a customer sign a waiver saying they understand that it may not be the same before you make it. If they don't want to, don't make the product.
