A Tinder Match Ends Up Attending Her Delivery as Their Fourth Date—The Story

In an incredible turn of events, a guy who had gone on three amazing dates with a girl suddenly found himself in the delivery room instead of going on their fourth date. It wasn’t exactly what they had planned, but love can bloom in the most unexpected places and in the most surprising ways, even during childbirth.

They met when she was 25 weeks pregnant.

When Alyssa Jane hit the 25-week mark of her pregnancy, she decided to take a leap and ventured into the world of online dating. That’s when she stumbled upon Max on Tinder. They hit it off pretty quickly and decided to meet up for a date.

“I didn’t want to lead anyone on, so I was being open and honest,” she describes her thoughts about dating while being pregnant. “I wanted them to know what they were getting into right off the bat.” On Max’s side, he recalls the moment, saying, “Normally I wouldn’t swipe right on a pregnant girl, but there was just something about her.”

Their first date was a bit nerve-wracking, as you’d expect from an online match. But things went surprisingly well, and they found themselves planning a second and third date in no time.

After their third date, Max had to leave town for a work trip, but they were so into each other that they decided Alyssa would pick him up from the airport when he got back for their fourth date. Sounds like a cute plan, right? Well, that’s when things got wild.

How their fourth date turned into a long labor.

Just as Alyssa was getting ready to head to the airport with excitement bubbling inside her, fate decided to throw them a curveball, she had a doctor’s appointment that turned her world upside down. The doc dropped a bombshell — her water had broken. She was in shock and had to make some tough calls.

With shaky hands, she texted Max and spilled the news. Max didn’t waste a second and headed straight to the hospital, where he’d meet Alyssa’s mom. He reassured her mom that he was there to help and support her.

Doctors were determined to keep the baby in as Alyssa was only 34 weeks pregnant. They gave her medication and sent her home with strict orders to rest and keep an eye on things. So, for the next week, Alyssa was at home, and Max was right there with her. He went to every doctor’s appointment, “so for that whole week, I stayed with her at her place [and] drove her to the hospital when she needed,” he claims.

But life had another twist ready. At 35 weeks, the doctors dropped the bomb again — Alyssa had an infection, and they needed to induce labor right away. Alyssa’s mom, her best friend, and Max were all there at the hospital, supporting her.

The tension in the room was palpable as they induced labor, hope to fight with worry. But an hour later, things took a scary turn. Doctors said the baby’s heart rate was dropping, and he was in trouble. That’s when they made the tough call for an emergency C-section to make sure both Alyssa and the baby would be okay.

Through all this chaos and unpredictability, Max stayed right there by Alyssa’s side, proving that love and unwavering support can endure even in the most unexpected and challenging times. “I was a little bit nervous because I was by myself, and I was also worried that — okay, yes I want him as a support person, but what if we end up breaking up in a week’s time?” the woman explains.

He readily embraced the role of a father without any hesitation.

The baby, Ollie, was finally born and after his arrival, Max stood by Alyssa’s side for several days while the newborn rested in the NICU, due to his premature birth. Given his constant presence during her childbirth, the hospital’s staff even mistook him as the father and allowed him to stay with her in the maternity unit. “He didn’t protest when they did call him Dad,” she reveals. “He just went along with it.”

His willingness to take on the title of “Dad” in the eyes of the hospital staff reflected his deep commitment and care for both Hodges and her newborn child. Fast-forward a bit, once Hodges and her son were finally out of the hospital, Max stepped up in a big way. He took a whole week off from work to help care for the newborn and give the new mom the support she needed as she transitioned into motherhood.

Alyssa and Max are engaged and have even welcomed their baby girl.

Fast-forward to today, and it’s a heartwarming love story that keeps on giving. Alyssa and Max, who once found themselves in that NICU mix-up, have now taken their relationship to the next level. Yep, they’re engaged.

But that’s not all. Their love story has grown with the arrival of another bundle of joy. They’ve welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world, and she goes by the name Autumn. She’s joined by her older brother, Ollie, who’s probably looking out for her just like Max looked out for Alyssa back in those early days.

Their story sparked an amazing reaction on social media.

Max and Alyssa’s story gained popularity after Alyssa shared it on TikTok, detailing their extraordinary and intriguing journey. Their unconventional love story stirred up curiosity among social media users, leading to questions on Alyssa’s posts. Despite facing some criticism for Max dating Alyssa while she was pregnant, they remained unfazed and happily continued to raise their two kids together.

“We both knew that we liked each other and had strong feelings for each other. But the birth was the peaking point of our relationship; it bonded us,” she explained with a smile. “Looking back, I know it was the best decision ever. I’m so glad he was there,” she added, her eyes filled with gratitude for the unexpected twist of fate that brought them together and strengthened their love.

Stories like these can really touch your heart, showing how fate can bring two soulmates together, and we’ve got plenty more, including some funny ones, like this dad seeing his child for the very first time.
