For centuries, it was a tradition that getting married would make your life complete. However, it turns out that everyone is different, and we all need different things to feel happy. Charlize Theron perfectly displays this idea and supports all women in staying strong and independent.

We at Bright Side enjoy seeing happy women and decided to share Charlize Theron’s story about how she finds harmony in life.

Her childhood was traumatic.

Charlize Theron is a beautiful woman and a talented actress, but her personal life was always a reason for public discussion. She is 47 now, but keeps insisting that she has no plans for marriage. But let’s try to understand why she feels this way.

Theron’s father was abusive, so her mother had to protect them from him. “I survived that, and I’m proud of that,” Theron said. “I’ve worked hard for that, too. And I am not scared of that. I am not fearful of the darkness. If anything, I am intrigued by it because I think it explains human nature and people better.”

Charlize Theron didn’t always have a reason to smile in her early childhood. She had no teeth until she was 11 because of jaundice. She was put on many antibiotics that made her teeth rot. But all these events made her a strong and independent woman.

Theron commented about her past, saying, “That was my entire childhood. My trauma was all of that.” We all are a product of our childhood, and Theron is no exception.

Theron was always a desirable woman. She’s dated Ryan Reynolds, Stephan Jenkins, Sean Penn, and Stuart Townsend. Despite the fact that she has been in long-lasting relationships, she has never been engaged or wanted to get married.

She has her own opinion about it. “I don’t want to get married because right now the institution of marriage feels very one-sided, and I want to live in a country where we all have equal rights,” Theron shared, referring to her gay friends.

Theron has different priorities in her life, like family and kids, and she doesn’t want to risk this happiness. “I never wanted to get married. That’s never been something that’s important to me,” the actress admitted.

Even when the public was gossiping about her alleged engagement with Sean Penn, she added, “That’s not true. I did not almost get married to Sean.”

By protecting her happiness, the actress also wants to keep her private space safe. She is not sure if she will ever be able to live with someone again, as she said, “I don’t know if I’m going to be able to deal with that ever again. I’m too old for that.”

She prefers a social life and fighting for human rights.

Although Charlize Theron doesn’t have a traditional family, she is a very busy person. She is constantly helping people all over the world. In 2007, the actress organized a charity project called Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project to invest in African youth and their ability to keep themselves and their peers safe from HIV/AIDS.

Additionally, she tries to draw attention to the topic of gender equality and the safety of women and children. “Together for Her is a call-to-action for women to stand in solidarity with women and girls around the world,” she explained.

What do you think about the need to get married? Is it possible to live happily without serious relationships?
