You'll be old too one day, millennials oldest ones the ones 45 this year we aren't planning to retire till 70 for maximum retirement pay out, once boomers go and gen x is next before millennials we will not vacate our positions. Oh btw in canada if an employer is caught using age as a reason, the employee gets a VERY NICE PAY CHEQUE like 4x their yearly salary for discrimination. And our courts do look at age so give a 30 yrs old the millennials upper up position company will lose in court

You absolutely earned that promotion. They tried to bring in "new blood" from the competitor to replace you. Thank goodness you documented or you wouldn't have been able to boot them out of your office. Hold your head up with pride and when the naysayers ask, just say that the "boss" was sent for retraining for good reasons.
