I’m a 25-Year-Old Woman, and This Is Why I Never Want to Have Kids

A single woman recently took to TikTok to bluntly explain her choice to not pursue motherhood and embrace the “cool aunt” role instead. The video has gone viral, and many women have expressed how much they relate to the reason why.

Bree is 25 years old, and according to her, she’s at the age where people won’t stop asking her if she has kids or not. In a video she uploaded to TikTok, the Canadian was candid about her reaction to the question and how she feels about motherhood. “I always scoff. Absolutely not. I’m a child still,” she said.

She then proceeded to open up about why she had already made the decision not to have kids. “I would love to be a parent, I would love to be a dad. I don’t get that choice. I would have to be a mother, and there is no way I would ever wanna be a mother,” she went on. “I don’t want the responsibility of being a mother. I want to be the cool parent — I want to have as little responsibility as possible, and mothers don’t get that.”

In the comment section, other users showed her support and how they relate to her. “I’m 31. My therapist asked me if I ever wanted to have kids. I basically said, ’I would be a really good dad,’” one user wrote. Another expressed how much sense her reasoning makes, especially as a mother: “Every mother immediately understood.”
