One of the greatest things about friendship is that it can take many forms, transcending age gaps and other difficulties. Having real friends who you care about can make your life better. They’ll be there when you are happy, but they’ll also show up when you’re in trouble. Julia Roberts and George Clooney prove that a unique partnership is what the heart needs to move forward.

George Clooney met Julia Roberts for the first time on a movie set in 2001.

Julia Roberts and George Clooney met on the set of the 2001 movie, Ocean’s Eleven, playing Tess and Danny. Although they shared many scenes together, Clooney revealed that they bonded even before filming in Las Vegas when they initially started shooting the film. Roberts said that she became “instant friends” with Clooney.

They had great first impressions of one another, as the actor said, “Roberts made me laugh,” and she called Clooney “gentle.” Because of their tight relationship, the superstar thinks of Roberts and her husband as part of his family.

Roberts and Clooney have worked on more than one project together.

The second time they worked together was in 2002 when Clooney produced the movie, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. They played 2 CIA agents. The film was praised by critics and nominated for numerous awards, including Best Director at the Las Vegas Film Critics Society 2002 Awards.

Then the superstar pair, who managed to stay close over the years, reunited again for a new romantic comedy, Ticket to Paradise, in which they play a divorced couple who works together to ruin their daughter’s wedding. While Clooney read the script and learned that Roberts was up for it, he thought it would be fun because he hadn’t taken part in a romantic comedy since the film, One Fine Day.

When recalling the experience, the actress said, “I think it’s so funny, and George is so funny, and us together, it’s probably going to be terrible because there’s too much potential for it to be great, it’ll just implode on it itself.” Clooney said that Roberts’ greatest qualities are that she is consistent in her loyalty and in her friendship and kindness. The actress said, "We kind of read it at the same time, and we reached out to each other at the same time, and said, ’I’ll do it if you do it.’’

Clooney’s relationship with Roberts is so goofy that pulling pranks on her is his favorite thing to do.

George Clooney isn’t only a movie star and 2-time winner of People’s Hottest Man Alive, but he’s a prankster as well. In an interview, Roberts said that Clooney never leaves her out of his pranks, especially during the shoot of Ocean’s Eleven where she was the only girl, recalling that he once put a bucket of water over her doorway so when she’d open it, she’d get drenched. However, a bellman got it instead.

She stated, “I was like shooting fish in a barrel, I would fall for everything.” Clooney said that Roberts got him back by putting plastic over the toilet seats. The actress then said that the trick to “cellophaning the toilets” is to “dim the lights or unscrew the light bulbs because if they come in and turn on a bright hotel light, it will shine off the cellophane and ruin the joke.”

Why their friendship never turned into a romantic relationship

People have asked them many times if they were dating, but the truth is that they never did. The actor stated, “It was nothing, but it’s been nothing but fun for us. So I don’t think that was ever really a thing. Besides, Julia was always in a relationship, or I was in a relationship.” But they became best friends right away.

Everyone knows how much they love each other.

When they are interviewed, both actors have nothing but nice things to say about each other. “We are the same goofy nuts we’ve always been,” Roberts said. Since appearing in their first film together in 2001, these celebs have been quite close, and it never fails to uplift us to see them joking around with one another. The good thing is that they still like and admire one other.
