Luke Bryan Adopted His Sister’s 3 Kids After Her Unsolved Passing and He Loves Them Like His Own
The famous country singer and American Idol judge, Luke Bryan, was devastated to have lost his beloved sister over a decade ago. Unfortunately, her passing hit Luke twice as hard because he had to stay strong in order to provide a safe home for his nephew and 2 nieces. Keep reading to find out how this selfless act shook up the Bryan family.
Luke Bryan has had to face many losses in his life.
In 1996, Luke Bryan had to face a terrible tragedy. His brother, Chris, passed away as the result of a car accident. At the time, the future famous singer didn’t know this wouldn’t be his only sibling to meet an untimely end.
A little over a decade later, in 2007, Bryan’s sister Kelly died due to unknown causes. The singer commented at the time: “They never determined what happened. The autopsies, the coroner, no one could figure it out.”
Luke added that this loss hit his mother especially hard, and he had to provide a lot of comfort to her: “One day, she’s missing my brother, one day, she’s missing my sister, and one day, she wants to be around me more, because I’m all she’s got left.”
He was there for his family during their darkest times.
After Luke’s sister passed away, her kids, son, Til, and 2 daughters, Kris and Jordan, had their father Ben to rely on, at first. Sadly, in 2014, another tragedy came knocking when the family lost Ben as well, leaving the 3 kids without parents. At the time, Til was 13, Kris was 16, and Jordan, the oldest, was 20.
Without any hesitation, Luke and his wife Caroline took in Kelly and Ben’s kids and made them a part of their family. As Caroline said, “We never thought twice about it. We just did it.”
In a blink of an eye, Bryan, who was already a father to 2 boys, Thomas, more often referred to as Bo, born in 2008, and Tatum, born in 2010, saw his family double in size, and his heart followed.
His family is now closer and stronger than ever.
Luckily for everyone, the kids got along with each other swimmingly. Luke once shared his concern over his oldest son, Bo, having to adjust to becoming a middle child with Til as his older brother. But he shouldn’t have worried in the first place, “It’s been amazing watching them do so well with it. They treat Til like their brother, and Til does the same.”
Most importantly, Luke credits his wife in reshaping their family unit. He praises her for being hands-on with the kids and for being their shoulder to lean on: “I think with us, I mean, obviously, I do it with (the help of) my wife, hand in hand. The work that she puts in with the children... I mean, it’s just amazing. I look at her phone, and it’s just pinging and vibrating and going off constantly, and it’s the children.”
