Man Gets FIRED From Work After SAVING an Adorable Baby Moose

We all might expect our good deeds to pay off with at least a little gratitude and praise. But in the case of Mark Scage, it was completely different. Mark was fired from work because he saved a baby moose from being mauled by a black bear. Let’s learn more about why Mark’s kind heart resulted in the loss of his job.

Mark happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Mark Skage rescued a baby moose from the side of a busy road in British Columbia, Canada. A black bear could’ve mauled the baby moose, but Mark swept in as the real hero and sheltered the poor animal. However, Mark was later fired by his employer, who let him go because he broke wildlife protocols.

Mark says despite knowing handling wildlife is forbidden, he believes he did the right thing. But he definitely didn’t expect to lose his job over it. “I just couldn’t do it, in my heart. Black bears are the number one predator for those calves,” Skage said in an interview. “So I just thought, ’Well, I can’t take care of the predator, but I guess maybe I can try and help out this little calf.’”

Skage said in his interview that he noticed the calf wandering alone on the side of the road with no mother in sight. He saw the calf nearly get hit by many vehicles on the road, then he pulled over and tried to scare the animal off the side of the highway.

But as the car door was open, the baby moose quickly trotted over, trying to climb into the pickup truck, and the man just could not resist giving the young moose a ride.

“Her and I kind of bonded on the ride home. I mean, shucks, we had like 5 and a half hours in the pickup truck together,” Skage said in an interview.

He called the B.C. Conservation Officer Service while driving to find a safe place for the calf to stay. Eventually, he took the calf to a wildlife rehabilitation center.
