It's certainly an odd decision to serve sushi, especially if a parent were to explain the food to their child. I don't really feel like it's a bad idea for an adult viewing but I don't think some children would like the idea. I can understand where the choice came from but it should have been obvious that it would be a point of contention with fans.
Sushi Was Served at the Premiere of The Little Mermaid and People Considered it Improper
The most anticipated live-action of The Little Mermaid is now in movie theaters worldwide. But before everyone could watch it, premiere parties were given with special guests. But one food decision left everyone surprised.
By displaying many kind and sociable sea creatures, we didn’t expect to eat sushi while watching the movie. But in an EUA premiere, that was precisely what happened. And people were shocked.
In a viral TikTok video, we can see a plate of sushi being given inside the movie theatre. The author of the video mentioned, “Giving us sushi at The Little Mermaid premiere is dark.”
Some of the comments followed the indignation. “RIP Flounder,” one comment says. While others mentioned that it looks like eating Ariel’s friends.
Was it a PR move or just a bad coincidence? We will never know. What we do know is that we can’t wait to watch the movie and see Princess Ariel one more time.
