6 Oils That Are Ready to Go to Battle Against Your Wrinkles

As we age, our skin begins to sag and crease. And while there are many skincare products out there to choose from, something as simple as olive oil from your pantry can do the trick. Even though most fine lines and wrinkles begin to show between the ages of 35 and 50, it’s never too early nor too late to begin a skincare routine than can help fight against them.

We at Bright Side believe that skincare shouldn’t be inaccessible and expensive, so we’ve put together a list of 6 natural oils that can help fight wrinkles and keep your skin smooth and supple for years to come.

Avocado oil

Avocado oil is rich in fatty acids, omega fats, and vitamin A, which are all nutritious for the skin to absorb. Not only is it a great moisturizer, but avocado oil contains minerals and antioxidants that shield your face from ultraviolet rays of the sun, which is one of the top causes of wrinkles.

To use avocado oil, combine:

  • 2 tablespoons of avocado oil
  • 3-4 drops of floral essential oil such as rose or lavender

Place them in a 1-ounce jar. Gently shake the contents to blend them before applying them to your face.

Lemon oil

Lemon oil is used for treating acne and fungal issues. It’s also an oil used in many anti-aging products due to the high antioxidant and antimicrobial properties it contains. Because it’s a highly concentrated oil, lemon essential oils must first be diluted in a carrier oil such as grapeseed, coconut, or olive oil. Studies have also found that citrus oils react harshly on your skin when exposed to the sun, so it’s best to use them at night.

In a 50 ml bottle, mix:

  • 50 ml of carrier oil (we recommend extra virgin olive oil or grapeseed oil)
  • 3-5 drops of lemon oil

Gently shake the bottle before using its contents on your skin. For the best results, use it only at night.

Lavender oil

The smell of lavender promotes total relaxation, and the same effect is also seen on fine lines and wrinkles. With high levels of antioxidants, antimicrobial, and antibacterial properties, lavender essential oil does wonders for acne and wrinkles.

In a small jar or bowl, combine:

  • A few drops of pure lavender essential oil
  • Extra virgin coconut oil (or any other carrier oil you prefer)

Stir or gently shake the bottle and add it to your skincare routine.

Grapeseed oil

Grapeseed oil is made from the seeds of pressed grapes, typically a byproduct of winemaking. The seeds are rich in vitamin E and polyunsaturated fats, making it a nutritious oil for your skin to absorb.

You can apply grapeseed oil directly to your skin and massage until absorbed.

Carrot seed oil

Carrot seed oil is an essential oil obtained from cold-pressed carrot seeds. The oil is rich in anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and has been found to have anti-aging properties as well. With high levels of antioxidants, the oil also moisturizes and rejuvenates. Like other essential oils, carrot seed oil must first be diluted in a carrier oil before rubbing it onto the skin.

To use carrot oil, combine:

  • 2 teaspoons of carrier oil, such as almond or avocado
  • 2 drops of carrot seed oil

Use your fingers or a cotton pad to apply the oil to your skin.

Olive oil

We know olive oil to be the essential Italian ingredient for pasta, pizza, and salad dressing. But olives are high in moisturizing vitamins and antioxidants, making them a great candidate for reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

Simply dip a cotton ball in:

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • A few drops of fresh lemon juice (optional)

Dab the cotton swab onto your face before you go to sleep.

It’s important to note that each person’s skin reacts differently to each oil, so it’s best to do a patch test before applying the oil to any part of your skin.

Which oil are you willing to try? We’d love to hear your choice and see the results!
