Women Are Happier With Less Attractive Men, According to a Study

Women fantasize about hunky men and oftentimes think that dating a more dashing guy is the key to a fulfilling relationship. Nevertheless, reality can be so far from expectations. Studies show us that in order for a woman to be truly content, her other half shouldn’t be the better-looking one.

We at Bright Side agree that focusing on good looks when choosing a man might not be the best idea after all. Here is our list of reasons why less appealing guys make the best life partners.

The woman will feel more comfortable in her own skin.

study has shown that women with more attractive partners are highly motivated to diet.

Even though this doesn’t mean that dieting in itself is bad, the reason for the motivation shouldn’t be the fact that her man looks better than her. If a woman wants to lose weight or change her appearance in any way to keep up with others, this often indicates that she is not feeling good about herself, which can have repercussions on her self-esteem and even lead to depression.

They’ll put extra effort into impressing their significant other.

Less attractive men tend to go the extra mile to please their other half. Knowing that they’re not as blessed in the good looks department, they try to compensate by buying gifts, taking her to a romantic getaway every once in a while, or giving her a hand with the household chores.

By constantly spicing things up and keeping the flame alive, the woman will feel appreciated and the relationship will grow stronger by the day.

They are less likely to cheat.

They won’t grab that much attention at first sight, and this means they’ll usually be exposed to less temptation than attractive men. With fewer options, guys have less opportunity to go astray and a better chance of staying faithful.

All eyes will be on the woman.

Having arm candy is daunting at times. Going out and knowing that they are in the shadow of their partner will make most women feel insecure and inferior. This might sometimes create tension in the relationship and even cause arguments or fights.

On the other hand, having a less attractive man beside her, can make the woman feel more confident about her looks and her desirability.

They are fully invested in the relationship.

Being less focused on their own looks and appeal allows men to give more attention, affection, and emotional support to their partners, making them the center of their universe.

Research has shown that more physically attractive men are less satisfied with their relationship and less supportive of their wives. Even if you’re dating the biggest heartthrob out there, if your man is hard to please, not a good listener, and doesn’t make you his priority, there is a big chance that the relationship might eventually go south.

It’s easier to live with them.

Let’s face it, being the ’’good-looking one’’ since childhood often gives someone a sense of entitlement. After all, most handsome people are used to getting what they want in life, which sometimes makes them difficult to deal with.

On the other hand, less attractive men tend to be more easygoing which makes dating them more pleasant. They understand that they can’t always get what they want and that life is about compromise. So oftentimes, the saying ’’it’s my way or the highway’’ doesn’t apply to them.

They are funny, charming, and romantic.

Since they are usually not used to relying on their looks to attract potential partners, less handsome men tend to develop positive personality traits that help them win the heart of the opposite sex. And as they say, looks fade but the character remains. So having a quality man as your other half is a blessing that needs to be appreciated.

It seems like this article and so called research was created to please very insecure women. Looks doesn't determine all these things mentioned in the article. There are also genes, upbringing, environment, etc. Such a shame this kind of nonsense is written for the public. It just makes silly stereotypes thrive even more in people's heads. Just because someone had one or two bad experiences with good looking people, doesn't mean there's a tendency.
