Cartoons and comics have lived in our hearts since childhood. Back in the day, or maybe even now, we wanted to live like our favorite cartoon heroes by living in their houses, going to their schools or helping them to do their work. After many years, we’ve gotten a chance to actually put ourselves in this fictional world! Snow White’s cottage with its “melting” roof, the life-size SpongeBob pineapple house, and a cozy, eco-friendly hobbit’s hole... all of these houses came to life to make our dreams come true.

Today, Bright Side wants to show you 10 exact replicas of fantasy homes that everyone can actually visit.

1. The Simpsons’ house

Back in 1997, 20th Century Fox had an unbelievable promotional idea: to create a full-sized, livable replica of The Simpsons’ house in Nevada, USA, and give it away in a contest. It cost approximately $120,000 to build the real-life house with identical features of its cartoon version, both inside and out. However, the contest winner took the $75,000 cash prize instead of the house. Today, The Simpsons’ house is simply a piece of commercial real estate.

2. The house from movie, Up

Carl and Ellie’s small, adorable, colorful house was so popular and inspiring, it was actually built in 2011 as a part of one little girl’s Make-a-Wish Foundation wish. It was designed with accuracy and attention to every small detail: from the weather vane and the mailbox outside to the photos on the walls, the light switches, and floorboards inside. Right now the house is situated in Utah and can be visited by tourists, so everyone can take some nice shots and feel what it’s like to live in the fairy tale for a little while.

3. SpongeBob’s pineapple house

SpongeBob SquarePants is loved by all generations, and his pineapple house at the bottom of the ocean has become a very alluring place. Well, there’s no need to dive into deep waters to see it since the exact replica of it already exists on land and has everything we’d want to see in it like underwater decor, a rusty TV, a shell phone, and even a life-size replica of Gary! This villa was created by Nickelodeon and Nick Resort Punta Cana and is located in the Dominican Republic.

4. The “Hobbit Hole” house

Designer, builder, and family father Simon Dale decided to build an eco-friendly house in harmony with nature. The house is constructed from oak shavings with stone and mud walls and straw bales in the floor, walls, and roof. Its solar panels provide electricity, the skylight in the roof gives natural light during the day, a nearby spring gives clean and fresh water, the underground air cools the fridge, roof water is used for the garden, and the toilet is used as compost.

5. The Flintstones’ house

In 1976, the architect William Nicholson made a house in order to test new building materials. This dome-shaped building was named after The Flintstones’ house because it resembled the stone age home the family lived in. The house is situated in California, completely white inside to stay cool in the summer and costs $4,000,000.

6. The Barbie house

Many little girls dreamed about living a fancy life in a house just like Barbie had. Now their dreams can come true, thanks to the 10,000-square-foot pink plastic doll residence in Florida, called “Barbie, the Dreamhouse Experience”. According to its builders, the house took more than 100 gallons of pink paint and 20 pounds of glitter.

7. Minnie Mouse’s house

This adorable Minnie Mouse house can be found at Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland both in Florida and California. Don’t let the design fool you — the house may look cartoonish, but it’s fully equipped inside, just like a real house!

8. Snow White’s cottage

This one-of-a-kind house was inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The builders spent 30 years to create this masterpiece. The house is located in Washington and has no square corners anywhere, the wood beams are hand carved, the roof looks as if it has melted over the structure, and everything is just as rough and character-filled as anything Walt Disney drew.

9. The Jetsons’ futuristic house

Here, everything is backward: The Skypad Apartments from the cartoon were inspired by futuristic buildings from the early 1960’s, a time when people tried to fantasize how apartments would look in the future. The Jetsons’ apartment, in particular, was inspired by the Chemosphere, a famous building in Los Angeles.

10. Bruce Wayne’s manor

The Bruce Wayne Manor in the DC comics about Batman was inspired by Wollaton Hall in Wollaton, Nottingham, England. For the film, The Dark Knight Rises, Wollaton Hall served as Wayne Manor.
