10 Celebrities Who Are So Attached to Their Mom and Dad That They Chose to Live With Them

According to a survey, 28 is the age when living with your parents starts to get old. After all, our family nest can be so cozy and comfortable that it gets hard to leave it. But sometimes, we go through rough periods as adults, and even Hollywood stars have moved back in with their parents for emotional support. Because no matter how old we get, there will always be a special and delicate place for family in our hearts.

Bright Side believes that the relationship we have with our parents is the earliest and one of the strongest bonds we’ll ever have. And here are 10 celebrities who’ve proven that nothing can come between them and their mom or dad.

1. Bradley Cooper

After losing his dad in 2011, the then 36-year-old actor moved back to live with his mom, Gloria, for a few years. Bradley, who is clearly super close to his family, admitted that being in "the next room’’ to her is ’’not without complications.’’ However, he continued saying that despite those little hurdles, he really enjoys his time with his mom. He noted she is ’’a cool chick. We can hang, and she can roll with the punches.’’

2. Zendaya

Even though she’s been a star since her childhood, Zendaya decided to not move out of her parents’ house even after turning 18. She explained that living with them had ’’more advantages than disadvantages’’ and that they respect each other’s space and boundaries, which makes living together pleasant.

3. Jamie Foxx

In 2020, the then 52-year-old actor revealed that his parents still lived with him. And what’s even more interesting is that his mom and dad have been divorced for 25 years. The actor said, ’’They live under the same roof and what’s crazy is that he still dates. [...] It’s a weirdly fun household.’’

4. Billie Eilish

In a 2022 interview, the 20-year-old singer revealed that she still resides in the home she grew up in. She explained that despite her massive fame and success, ’’My relationship with my home has not changed, just like with my parents and my brother.’’

5. Michael B. Jordan

In a 2018 interview, the Black Panther star revealed that he and his parents continued living together. He revealed, “I love my parents, but we have a roommate relationship right now, which is interesting.” He explained that living with them definitely has its perks, but sometimes it can create some awkward situations, ’’You get home-cooked meals, but then you also have random trips to the kitchen in the middle of the night.’’

6. Jennifer Lawrence

In 2006, the Lawrence family moved from their hometown in Kentucky to L.A., so that the then 16-year-old Jennifer could pursue an acting career in Hollywood. She lived there with them until she was 24. Her parents then sold the house in 2016, 2 years after their daughter moved out.

7. Oliver Hudson

The 45-year-old actor recently moved his family into his famous parents’ house. He explained that since his own house was getting remodeled, he has decided to share a roof with his parents instead of renting a place.

And it seems that Oliver is having the time of his life with his parents. He noted, “Yeah, it’s great. Breakfast is made. Mom makes biscuits and gravy and eggs. It’s actually— there’s a chance we won’t leave.”

8. Selena Gomez

The singer and actress waited until 20 to start living separately from her mother. Her relationship with her had gone through some ups-and-downs over the years, and the star was reported to be wanting “to give her mom some space.” But despite their occasional hardships, the mother and daughter duo will always be close, as it was reported, “When they fight, they fight hard. But when they love, they also love hard.”

9. Kathy Griffin

The 61-year-old comedian revealed that she lived with her parents in a 2-bedroom apartment at the start of her career and waited to make it in Hollywood to afford a place of her own. She opened up by saying, “I like to use the term ’late bloomer,’ but I really thought there was something wrong with me.”

10. Julia Roberts

It is true that tough times make us bond closer to the people we love. And when the actress lost her half-sister back in 2014, she didn’t want her mom Betty Lou to feel lonely, so she had her move in with her. It was reported that the mother and daughter “have an extremely close relationship and Betty’s been embraced wholeheartedly into the family. The children adore her as she insists on picking them up from school every single day.”

Do you agree that sometimes returning to the family nest can be the right thing to do? At what age did you move out of your parents’ home?
