In 2018, Hugh Grant married his then-39-year-old Swedish creative producer girlfriend, Anna Eberstein. The couple had been linked for over 6 years by then, and together, they share 3 children. Grant also has 2 more kids with his ex-girlfriend.

At 57, this was the actor’s very first time walking down the aisle, although the heartthrob has been involved in several high-profile relationships over the past decades, including a romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley. And this marriage might have come as a big surprise to some, as Grant had opened up in the past about not believing that people are meant to be married.

He completely changed his views on marriage.

In the past, the actor revealed his thoughts on monogamy, saying, “I think there’s something unromantic about marriage.” He added that “you’re closing yourself off” by tying the knot.

At the time, Grant had explained that he didn’t believe we were supposed to be in a single committed relationship our entire lives. The actor had noted, “Do I think human beings are meant to be in 40-year-long monogamous relationships? No, no.”

He is now happier than ever.

But it seems that today, Grant is super glad that he shifted his long-held beliefs and decided to commit to his lady. As a matter of fact, the 62-year-old has confessed that he regrets having put off marriage for so many decades. He admitted, “Well, I was just plain wrong.’’ He then added, “It was very nice getting married.”

The English star also admits to having completely changed his views on fatherhood. He acknowledged that in the past he “used to roll his eyes” whenever the subject came up. However, today, the father of 5 is feeling fulfilled in his role as a devoted family man and noted, “Fatherhood stopped me from being a scary, old bachelor.”

Grant had also revealed that being a dad “was the nicest thing” that’s ever happened to him. He went on, explaining, “It’s just lovely to have all that love around. Suddenly you love someone more than yourself.”
