There is something exciting about following celebrity couples. Therapists say it’s natural to look up to celebrity couples because audiences feel like these people are a part of their lives. We have to admit that celebrities set a great example sometimes by showing us that it’s possible to stay in love for many decades, even if there are hardships along the way.

Bright Side is a big fan of real love, so we’d love to share some photos of 10 long-term couples and their love stories with you.

1. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban: 16 years

The relationship between Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise may still be fresh in the minds of fans, but they have been divorced for over 20 years. Kidman met her second husband, Keith Urban, for the first time in 2005, and the couple tied the knot shortly after, in 2006. They have 2 daughters together.

2. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds: 10 years

A decade may not sound so impressive, but just think about it — the couple had started dating before the hit show, Gossip Girl, in which Lively played the main character, came to an end. To this day, the happy couple shares funny moments from their lives with followers.

3. Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn: 38 years

The couple got together on Valentine’s Day in 1983 and have been inseparable ever since. Interestingly enough, they never got married. Both Russel and Hawn were divorcees by the time they started their relationship, so they felt that marriage “cemented the relationship.”

4. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson: 33 years

They got to be co-stars 2 times: in 1981 and in 1984. Tom Hanks was a married man back then, but he described his marriage as one that was already broken beyond repair. However, he did not want his kids to be raised in a broken home, so he kept holding onto the marriage. Things changed when Rita Wilson came into the picture — the couple got married in 1988 and are still together to this day.

5. Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham: 35 years

When they first met, Oprah Winfrey was in a relationship with another man, but it is said she broke up with him once she met Stedman Graham. The couple got engaged 6 years after they first started their relationship in 1986, but they never got married, saying tying the knot only complicates things.

6. Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan: 33 years

The couple met on a movie set twice before they became an official couple. They got married in 1988. Just 3 years after getting married, Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and started developing unhealthy coping mechanisms because of the diagnosis. However, Pollan helped him accept his condition and not do self-destructive things.

7. Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak: 19 years

Jim Parsons, who is most famous for his role as Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory, came out as gay in 2012 and said he had been in a relationship with art director and producer Todd Spiewak for the past 10 years. The couple got married 15 years after first getting together, in 2017.

8. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick: 24 years

The couple met for the first time in 1991 on Broadway. Matthew Broderick said he still remembers the first time he saw her and that he “doesn’t remember most people,” but when it comes to Parker, his memory is “clear as day.” They dated for 5 years before tying the knot in 1997. When Sarah Jessica Parker was asked about the secret to her long-lasting relationship, she said that time apart, which allows them to “come back together,” helps.

9. Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner: 50 years

The couple met back in 1971 and began dating shortly after. Recalling the ’70s, Lily Tomlin said that she never tried to hide her relationship with Wagner and she would always talk about her in the interviews, but the publications “would not always write about it.” Their romance withstood time and got to witness society change. They got married in 2013, after more than 40 years of being together.

10. Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest: 37 years

Jamie Lee Curtis saw a picture of Christopher Guest for the first time in 1984 and told her friend that she was going to “marry that guy.” She found his number through her agency, however, he only called her back after they accidentally met at a restaurant sometime later. And just like Curtis predicted, she married him. The ceremony took place 4 months after the couple met, and they have been together ever since.

What couple do you consider to be relationship goals?
