The award-winning actress has openly spoken about embracing aging on multiple occasions. The Woman in Gold star believes that some people are scared of going gray because it means they’re in a different age group.

The artist shared that she noticed the first gray hairs when she was very young, and it took her some time to finally accept her natural beauty. “I went gray prematurely in my early twenties...and dyed my hair every color along the way until I couldn’t tolerate the toxicity of the dyes anymore. In my thirties, I let my hair turn ’blonde’... I love and support that every womxn can choose how she wants to look at every age,” she said.
The 63-year-old actress has embraced her gray hair for years. She shared that she first realized she didn’t want to dye her hair anymore when she went to a beauty salon. “I tried to do everything you can do to your hair. Personally, I felt it humiliating. I would go into a hair salon, the smell of the chemicals, the feeling of that color on my hair, the wearing the things, sitting under the hair dryer, I was like, ’For what?’” she said.
The Ordinary World star went gray after undergoing chemotherapy for her multiple sclerosis. Although it wasn’t easy for her to accept her new look, the actress decided not to dye her hair.
She proudly showed off her new style on her Instagram account, writing, “I cut my hair short. So I will leave it short and gray, something I have never before wanted to do. I equated it with giving up. And maybe giving up long, brown hair, complete with time-consuming and expensive highlights and lowlights isn’t necessarily a give up.”
