We all know that alcohol and drugs affect our health and psychological condition negatively. However, very often, this knowledge alone is not enough to fight those bad habits. The characters of our compilation today are not on the list of the weak — they managed to find the strength within themselves to change for the better and to chose life without addiction. Just look at how noticeable the changes in their appearance and mentality are!

Bright Side collected 15 photos of people who managed to say “No” to bad habits poisoning their lives. At the end of the article, there is a bonus showing that addictions can be different.

Ross Gardner used to have a food addiction. He was consuming 15,000 calories per day, which is 6 times more than what nutritionists recommend for the daily norm for a man of his height and weight. He used to wear a clothing size of XXXXL, weighed 392 lb and had to buy 2 seats if he was traveling by plane. After his doctor told him that Ross had only 3 years left to live because of his obesity, the man decided to change his life. His weight dropped down to 203 lb within 10 months and he reduced his daily calorie consumption to 2,500 per day. Now, Ross helps other people who want to change their lives and start it all over again.
