Brother Comes to the Rescue of His 7-Year-Old Sister When Dad Ditches Father-Daughter Dance

Trelysia Hamerter is the mother of two incredible kids, Christian and Skylar Hamerter. Trelysia posted on her social media the story of how Christian decided to accompany his little sister, Skylar, to her father-daughter dance when their dad didn’t bother to attend. Having a father figure at home is beneficial for a kid’s future, as the kids know they have someone they can rely on, and it can hurt when we feel like we don’t have that support system.

We at Bright Side wanted to show you how this caring brother stepped up in the bravest way and became that support for his sister Skylar on her big night.

Looking forward to the father-daughter dance.

The sweet 7-year-old Skylar knew that the dance was coming, so she started voicing her requests ahead of time. She wanted to go with her dad, not with her grandpa, “I want everyone to know I have a dad” were her words. So her mom, Trelysia, started calling her ex in the hope that he would pick up the phone.

Skylar’s dad didn’t answer and as the big night was getting closer, Skylar noticed the situation and broke down in tears; it was the second year that her dad had stood her up. Her mom Trelysia felt bad, “There was nothing I could do because I’m not a male,” she said on her social media.

There was no answer from her father so her brother volunteered.

Skylar’s big brother, Christian, realized how his sister was feeling, so he said to his mom, “I’d like to take Skylar to the dance. She deserves to know that a man can keep his word and that she’s really special.” Some studies say that when there is a presence of siblings in the household, when they grow up they tend to be more sympathetic, and also it can help alleviate depression and anxiety.

11 year-old Christian came to the rescue of his little sweet sister, proving that he will always have her back. Trelysia was so proud of him, she even mentioned in her post that she is raising a great husband for someone one day.

Preparing for the big night.

The day before the dance, Trelysia found a suit and a tie that matched Skylar’s beautiful gold dress, for Christian. They were preparing just in case Trelysia’s ex wouldn’t arrive. Skylar was going to her big night no matter what.

When the special day arrived, as they feared, the kids’ father didn’t show up, so Christian was Skylar’s date for the event. Nothing stopped the siblings from having a great night, and Skylar looked so beautiful and confident with her dress and the hairstyle her auntie gave her.

How are they doing now?

Currently, Skylar and Christian are very healthy and happy attending their school. Skylar is in gifted classes and we at Bright Side couldn’t be happier for her and her beautiful family.

Have you ever experienced someone being this nice to you? What is the nicest thing you’ve ever done for someone else? Let us know in the comments.
