Oh goodness gracious 😳. This figure looks nothing like Dewayne Johnson. I'm glad that they've decided to give the creation a makeover as it desperately needed it. Hopefully the artist will do a much better job this time.
Dwayne Johnson Isn’t Happy About His New Wax Figure — Here’s What He’ll Do About It
A French museum got on The Rock’s wrong side after they unveiled a wax figure of the actor that was heavily criticized by fans, with some even calling it “Vin Diesel’s son.” Now Johnson announced he’s not just going to leave things be.
Fans were shocked and disappointed when a Dwayne Johnson wax figure from the Musée Grévin, in Paris, was unveiled, as it showed The Rock as a light-skinned man and featured him in an outfit that doesn’t seem to match the actor’s usual style. Many found it resembled Mr. Clean (a sailor who’s a mascot for a brand of the same name), and even Johnson himself shared a video mocking the wax figure on his Instagram.
“They turned The Rock into a pebble! It looks like The Rock has never seen the sun a day in his life. You make the rock look like he’s David Beckham. It looks like The Rock is going to be a part of the royal family,” comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr. said in the clip. “Did y’all even Google him?”
The former wrestler and Fast & Furious-star seemed to take everything lightly, although he couldn’t help but see people’s point. “I knew my boy @jamesjeffersonj had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshairs,” Johnson wrote, adding that he “belly laughed” at the comedian’s banter.
“For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grévin Museum, in Paris, France, so we can work at ’updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements — starting with my skin color,” he admitted. “And next time I’m in Paris, I’ll stop in and have a drink with myself,” he joked.
Since the actor’s announcement, the museum recognized their mistake and promised to make changes. “Dwayne Johnson is right,” they expressed in a statement. “We noticed it and will obviously remedy it as quickly as possible and send him new photos once completed. We are waiting for him when he will come to Paris and the Grévin Wax Museum to celebrate that with a cup of champagne.”
So it seems all will be well!
The Rock isn’t the only one to see themselves recreated in a not-so-flattering way and in the form of a wax figure. Plenty of celebrities have suffered from the same fate, although some celebrity wax statue fails are so hilarious, we can’t help but love them.
