Russel Crowe Breaks Down as He Reveals the Tragic Way He Lost His Puppy

On the second anniversary of his father’s death, Russell Crowe lost another beloved member of his family. The actor’s 16-month-old puppy, Louis, passed away in a horrible accident. And the 58-year-old couldn’t hide his emotions on live TV as he recalled the heartbreaking event.

He shared the sad news with his followers.

The Gladiator star took it to Twitter to announce that his beloved ’’Louis the Papillion’’ had passed away.

The actor shared a picture of his black and white pet, and wrote, ’’Tiny, cheeky, brave. He won my heart.’’ He also added in the sad post, ’’We tried to get him to the vet, but he died in my arms while I was telling him how much we loved him.’’

They were very close.

Crowe, who is well-known for his love for animals, had previously posted a photo of himself and Louis wearing matching shirts, back in December 2022.

He had captioned the sweet snap, ’’I’m not at all a fan of dressing dogs up, but a friend bought little Louis a ⁦@RalphLauren⁩ polo, so he can match with dad.’’ He humorously added that ’’other dogs on the farm are going to get jealous.’’

Russel is still heartbroken.

And during a TV interview, the grieving dog dad got emotional as he recalled the recent incident.
When the interviewer asked him, ’’Are you alright? Is everything alright there?’’ the heartbroken and teary-eyed Crowe replied, ’’No, we’re actually a little devastated.’’

He went on saying, ’’He was such a beautiful little pup, you know, and kind of wrapped us around him and shaped our lives around him. So it’s gonna take a little time to get past.’’

His dad died on the same day.

Moreover, the unfortunate event happened exactly 2 years after the star lost his dad, John Alexander Crowe, at the age of 85. At the time, Crowe had tweeted, ’’[...]this date will forever be tinged with sadness’’ adding, ’’My dear old man, my beautiful dad, the most gentle of men, has passed away.’’

We are deeply saddened by Russell’s loss because we know how attached we get to our beloved pets.
