“She’s a Gift From God,” Nick Cannon Praises His “Not Human” Ex-Wife, Mariah Carey

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey ended their marriage nearly 7 years ago, but the television personality continues to hold his former spouse in high regard. In a new interview, Cannon revealed his enduring admiration for his ex-wife who he shares 2 kids with. It’s refreshing to know that, even after parting ways, he still feels fortunate to have had the Queen of Pop in his life and has nothing but the highest praise for her.

He had her photos all over his walls as a tween.

In a recent interview, comedian Nick Cannon, 42, spoke fondly of his ex-wife, Mariah Carey, 53, referring to her as “the love of his life.” Cannon disclosed, “I was 12 years old with Mariah Carey pictures on my wall, and that becomes my wife.” He also expressed his admiration for her personality, calling her “the coolest person” he has ever met. Cannon’s comments have previously gone viral, much to the dismay of some of Carey and Cannon’s fans.

The couple appears to be on great terms despite separation.

Cannon and Carey were married from 2008 to 2016 and have 2 children together, 11-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. Cannon also praised Carey for her joyful personality and giving nature, describing her as a remarkable person.

“Wow, a person can really operate like that and not allow negative energy into their space,” Cannon expressed. “That woman is not human. She’s a gift from God.” Despite their separation, the former couple remains supportive of each other and committed to co-parenting their children.

Nick is devoted to all his other children as much as he is to the 2 kids he shares with Carey.

In a 2019 interview, Mariah Carey shared her love for her children with Nick Cannon, acknowledging that they can be a lot to handle but ultimately give her so much love in return. She also praised their ability to co-parent and remain friends.

Aside from his children with Carey, Cannon has several other children with different partners. He recently spoke publically about his role as a father, stating that his main goal is to provide a bright future for his children. He feels blessed to be in a position where he can help his kids pursue any career they desire, even if it means connecting them with contacts in the Ivy League.

He’s bound to keep their memories together alive.

Furthermore, the comedian expressed that he believes he will “never have a love” like the one he shared with his ex-wife, Carey. Cannon compared their relationship to a fairy tale and stated that he would rather it remain that way, leaving their past love in a positive light.

He’s open to rekindling their love in the future.

Moreover, during an appearance on a podcast, Cannon expressed that he still holds a special place in his heart for his ex-wife. The comedian shared that he believes in love and is open to the possibility of rekindling their romance in the future, stating that he will never have a love like he had with Carey.

Cannon showed his appreciation for the fairy-tale-like nature of their relationship and the fantasy it holds, but he also acknowledged that if he were to try and rekindle their romance, and it didn’t work out, he would be disappointed. Nonetheless, Cannon said he would be there if the opportunity presented itself and their love could be the same as it once was. “She will always be my baby!” he said.

While they were married from 2008 to 2016 and share 11-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan, both have since moved on with their romantic lives. Cannon welcomed twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir with Abby De La Rosa in June 2021 and had a son named Zen with Alyssa Scott the following month. Tragically, Zen passed away in December of the same year after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Cannon is also a father to 5-year-old Golden “Sagon” and 18-month-old Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell.

Meanwhile, he’s full of praise for Carey’s current husband.

Cannon acknowledged that his ex-wife, Carey, has been in a committed relationship with Bryan Tanaka for the past 6 years, and he expressed his admiration for Tanaka’s positive influence on their children. He emphasized his respect for their relationship, stating, “The dude is amazing with my kids, and we got family gatherings and things together, so I truly respect it.”

Although the comedian admitted that Carey remains his ideal partner, he has come to terms with their separation. “But come on, that’s my fantasy love. That’s somebody that I will always love,” he added.

Finally, Cannon has a word or two to say on monogamy.

Furthermore, in a recent podcast interview, Cannon revealed that he still believes in monogamy and is hopeful that he will find a compatible partner, despite his past relationship struggles. However, he acknowledged that it takes work to maintain a successful relationship.

Cannon also expressed his affection toward the idea and ritual of love, saying, “I’m a hopeless romantic at the end of the day, so I love the concept, I love the ceremony of it.” Despite past failures in monogamous relationships, he remains hopeful for the future.

Moreover, when asked about the deciding factor in considering marriage again, Cannon responded that he is currently going through a personal growth period and seeks a partner who can accept and support him as he continues to evolve.
