People from all over the world spend hefty sums of money in their attempts to look beautiful as quickly as possible. But what most people often forget is that it's usually the small things that count the most when it comes to looking put together. It's sometimes enough to brush or blow-dry your hair in a different way to make it look better, healthier, and stronger, for example. And some people have found such solutions for almost every kind of self-care.

We at Bright Side have collected tips and tricks that will help you be beautiful and confident without emptying your pockets, wallets, and bank accounts.

1. Get hair with volume and thicker locks.

Experts recommend adding 3 parts sea salt to 2 parts shampoo. Mix it up well and use the scrub to wash your hair. Adding sea salt to your shampoo will help exfoliate your hair and make it look vibrant and healthy.

2. Blow-dry your hair upside down.

Haven’t perfected your blow-dry technique for that extra voluminous look and bounce? Don't worry. The perfect way to blow-dry your hair is to do so with your hair upside-down. This not only gives your hair that perfect voluminous look and bounce that you've always craved, but it also minimizes the damage done to the upper side of your hair from the heat of the dryer.

3. Get the perfect blowout look.

Nobody wants a bad hair day on any given day, especially when you want to look your very best. But if you are running out of time or forgot to wash your hair, here is a hack to give your hair the perfect blowout look, albeit a fake one: Dust a bit of powder (preferably baby powder) on the roots of your hair and comb through it. Curl the ends of your hair and you'll have just achieved the perfect blowout look.

4. DIY hair diffuser

If you do not have a diffuser attachment for your hair dryer, use a strainer as a diffuser to get wonderful curly hair.

5. Use a plastic bag for deep conditioning treatment.

Wash your hair and dry it using a clean towel. Apply conditioner generously, twist your hair up and clip it on the top of your head. Cover your hair with a plastic bag and keep it on for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, rinse your hair and remember not to blow dry.

6. Make dried out eyeliner work again.

Despite being easy to apply and providing clean and smudge-proof color, felt-tip liners have a drawback: they tend to dry up pretty quickly. Luckily, there is an easy fix: open up the end of the liner (most either unscrew on their own or can be pulled out with tweezers) and then pull out the little felt rod inside using something other than your fingers, as it could get messy. Then, insert the felt tip the other way, with the side previously inside to now be on the outside.

7. Quick cure for under-eye bags:

Let's face the truth — under-eye bags happen and sometimes there is nothing we can do to prevent them. And when we do get them, they seem to attract a lot of unwanted attention. While there is no way to get rid of them, applying eye cream stored in the refrigerator can help you minimize its appearance. So free up some space in your refrigerator and store your eye cream there.

8. The best natural face scrub:

Coconut oil is the elixir of skin, so add to it some coffee grounds in a 1:1 ratio and you have the perfect homemade natural face scrub. Apply it to your face and leave it for at least 15 minutes up to an hour. Rinse with warm water and enjoy glowing skin. This may also be used as a body scrub.

9. Get the perfect color tone from any foundation.

If you accidentally purchased a foundation that is too dark for your skin, add some moisturizer to it as this will help lighten it.

10. DIY way to get rid of blackheads

Mix a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and 3 tablespoons of honey to make a thick paste. Use your fingers to gently dab it onto your dry skin. Rub it in a circular motion for five minutes (or you may leave it applied overnight) and then wash off with warm water. Honey is a natural antibiotic and it pulls out dirt from your open pores while cinnamon has antimicrobial properties that remove dirt in pores and gently removes excess sebum from the skin’s surface to prevent blackheads.

11. The (icy) path to a glamorous face

Rubbing an ice cube over your face before applying makeup helps close the pores and reduces redness for glowing skin. It also helps your makeup last longer. Rubbing ice cubes can also go a long way in warding off wrinkles and premature aging.

12. The fan brush hack:

If you don’t have a fan brush: Use a normal brush and put a bobby pin. While this is a great technique, make sure that you don't permanently leave the bobby pins on the brush you'd also love to use in its original state.

13. Brush cleaning board, the magical glue gun way!

Brush cleaning boards are quite expensive, yet surprisingly easy to make. A small hack is to create your own board using a glue gun and a plastic board. You can use them to create scribbles to imitate brush cleaning boards similar to the expensive ones.

14. Use baby shampoo to clean makeup brushes.

Instead of buying the crazy brush cleansers that are super expensive, just use baby shampoo and the brush cleaning board described above.

15. Use toothpaste for treating pimples.

Wash your face with warm water to remove excess oil and dirt, then pat dry. Squeeze a little toothpaste onto your finger and apply directly over the pimples. Be careful not to apply outside the pimple region. Let it stay for 2 hours and then clean using a soft moist cloth carefully so as not to damage the skin. Then wash your face with warm water and pat dry.

16. Brush your lips after brushing your teeth.

Gently rub your lips with a dry toothbrush. It will help scrub off the dead skin and will make your lips smoother. It will also boost blood flow to your lips thereby making them softer and more sensual.

17. Make lipstick last longer

Put on a layer of lipstick, then lay a tissue across your lips. Dust some translucent powder over the tissue to make the color stay on longer.

18. Broken lipstick fix:

Mending broken lipstick is easy if you know how to do it. To mend the broken lipstick, expose the broken end that is still set in the base. Carefully melt the broken edges of the lipstick with a match or a lighter and then press the broken ends together gently. Put the lipstick in the fridge for about 45 minutes.

19. Get stronger and healthier nails

If you suffer from brittle and weak nails, there is a great homemade remedy for you. Massaging coconut oil into your cuticles and nails on a frequent basis will add moisture and will strengthen your nails which will result in strong nails that won't chip. Being a natural anti-fungal agent, coconut oil will also get rid of any nail fungus you might have.

20. Remove nail polish stains

Make a paste of one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and 2 tablespoons of baking soda in warm water. Dip your nails in this paste for 5 minutes. The chemicals will remove any stains left from nail polish and you will be ready to apply new polish.

21. Use cooking spray to dry nail polish faster.

Using a quick-drying nail spray is not an uncommon practice in ensuring that the nail polish dries faster. However, there’s another spray you can easily find in your kitchen that can provide similar results: cooking spray. Once you finish painting your nails, spray them with cooking spray. Leave for a few minutes and then wash it off.

22. Get perfectly soft heels

Pamper yourself with a healing foot treatment while you are asleep. Apply any peppermint moisturizer or vaseline to your cracked feet, then put on some comfy, cushioned socks and head to bed. That’s it. Wake up with soft and smooth feet.

23. Get pedicure-perfect feet

To get pedicure-perfect feet, use Alka-Seltzer tablets. Yes, you read that right. A solution for perfect feet. Now that's what you call a hack! Alka-Seltzer tablets contain citric acid and baking soda. Drop the tablets in warm water and soak your feet in it. The chemicals will react with water and will help smoothen your skin.

24. The correct way to apply perfume:

While the perfume indrusty wants us to spray their perfume all over our bodies, it's actually not at all necessary. The photograph shows the only points where you need to apply perfume to get the best results.
