Ariel, Mulan, Pocahontas — all of these characters have been familiar to us since childhood. We are so used to seeing them in a certain way, we don’t even notice the inaccuracies in their image. For example, Belle should’ve worn a giant powdered wig and Jasmine should be walking the streets with her head covered.

Even though all movies are scripted, actors use all the tricks in the book to sell us on their on-screen love stories. What is the best way to make a scene as genuine as possible? Improvise, of course! It can be intimidating to take your co-star by surprise and lay an unexpected kiss on them, but in almost all cases, the reward justifies the risk.

Hollywood has presented us with many legendary onscreen romances like the ones between Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind, Jack and Rose from Titanic, Joel Barish and Clementine Kruczynski from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and many more. Costumes, makeup, and computer graphics can sometimes do such wonders that we can’t even recognize the most famous actors until we read the credits. You can watch a film twice and not realize that you’ve seen Keanu Reeves, Vincent Cassel, or Stanley Tucci.

To be an actor is to make the audience believe that the characters you play are as real as the audience is. But what’s more challenging is to portray a real-life figure that almost everyone around the globe knows. It can take an ocean of effort to find an actor who would be able to dive into the stories of a famous person and amaze us with their talents once more. And when these actors meet the right makeup professionals, we get to observe the wonderful magic of biopics.

Some actors and actresses are such good fits for their roles, we can hardly imagine anyone else in their place. All because they not only follow what the movie director says, but they also create the flick together with them — and they’re not scared to improvise.

Great characters require great actors to play them. But in a world like ours, full of amazing stories and talented artists, the perfect role might slip away. Sometimes it works out for the best, but there have been many cases in which actors seriously regretted their choices.

But we know this can’t be true. That’s why we might not recognize them if we see photos of them when they were young.

Sometimes, life can shape your future in a way that you could’ve never imagined. That’s why it is said that you should always seize every opportunity when they appear. For some celebrities, acting came by surprise, and it made them the biggest movie stars in Hollywood. They just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and we are glad they did.
