The moment you look in the mirror and discover your first gray hairs is definitely emotional. And although you never know how you’re going to react right away, it’s totally up to you whether to dye your silver strands or embrace them. Lately, more and more celebrities are starting to open up about going gray and how they really feel about it.

We at Bright Side think gray hair looks gorgeous, and we applaud these brave and confident celebs who aren’t shy about showing it off.

1. Jane Fonda

The award-winning actress famously debuted her silver hair at the 2020 Oscars. “I’m so happy I let it go gray. Enough already with so much time wasted, so much money spent, so many chemicals — I’m through with that,” she said.

2. Salma Hayek

The House of Gucci star has shared her feelings about going gray on her Instagram account. The actress posted a selfie showing her silver strands and wrote, “Proud of my white hair.”

3. Tracee Ellis Ross

The actress known for her lead roles in many comedy series surely knows how to laugh at herself. She shared a funny selfie on her Instagram account, writing, “Yeah, the gray is coming in, and I have made a helicopter out of my head!”

4. Gwyneth Paltrow

The Oscar winner isn’t afraid of getting older and proudly embraces aging. “Of course, I have wrinkles [and] gray hair. But I genuinely love it. This is who I am,” she said.

5. Chrissy Teigen

While she hasn’t shown off her gray hair just yet, the model and actress has expressed her excitement at discovering her white strands. “I have a skunk-like streak of gray hair, and I’m actually very into it. My Cruella dreams are coming true,” she wrote on Twitter.

6. Tamera Mowry

The Daytime Divas star isn’t ashamed of her silvery hair, and she isn’t planning on dyeing it. She proudly shared her gray locks on her Instagram account, writing, “Hello grays.”

7. Helen Mirren

The award-winning actress has openly spoken about embracing aging on multiple occasions. The Woman in Gold star believes that some people are scared of going gray because it means they’re in a different age group.

“And, of course, you are in that age group. I’m sorry, but you are! So, why not just embrace it, go along with it and welcome it? Make it a positive thing as opposed to a negative thing,” she said.

8. Alexandra Grant

The artist shared that she noticed the first gray hairs when she was very young, and it took her some time to finally accept her natural beauty. “I went gray prematurely in my early twenties...and dyed my hair every color along the way until I couldn’t tolerate the toxicity of the dyes anymore. In my thirties, I let my hair turn ’blonde’... I love and support that every womxn can choose how she wants to look at every age,” she said.

9. Jamie Lee Curtis

The 63-year-old actress has embraced her gray hair for years. She shared that she first realized she didn’t want to dye her hair anymore when she went to a beauty salon. “I tried to do everything you can do to your hair. Personally, I felt it humiliating. I would go into a hair salon, the smell of the chemicals, the feeling of that color on my hair, the wearing the things, sitting under the hair dryer, I was like, ’For what?’” she said.

10. Selma Blair

The Ordinary World star went gray after undergoing chemotherapy for her multiple sclerosis. Although it wasn’t easy for her to accept her new look, the actress decided not to dye her hair.

She proudly showed off her new style on her Instagram account, writing, “I cut my hair short. So I will leave it short and gray, something I have never before wanted to do. I equated it with giving up. And maybe giving up long, brown hair, complete with time-consuming and expensive highlights and lowlights isn’t necessarily a give up.”

Do you know any other celebrities who choose not to dye their gray hair? Do you think it’s better to cover it or proudly show it off?
